I don't mean do a Dave Hooker impression, as there is only one of those :ermm: Just curious as to everyone on the boards overall take on this guy.

I Was listening today and it seems like his counterpart sometimes has to hold his tongue cause Dave says stuff just to get a rise out of people, granted part of it's his job...but often it's so brazen it can come across as knowitallish. Dave seems to have great contacts, and the information he provides is very good most of the time. Whew, sometimes though!

Now, I gotta preface this saying I've worked in media, and have friends and family in Knoxville media, and they say Dave is very hard working super nice guy..so I'm not here to slam the guy's work or him personally.

I think he's generally pretty good and does his research.

Feel the same a lot of the time I can agree with where Dave is coming from, but sometimes he does come off as a know it all and i change to the animal only to change it right back because the jackwagons on that station are unbearable almost to the point of Jeff Pennington on that Sunday tv show.

I've listened to his show several times. Dave's okay but says some bizarre things every now and then that makes me wonder about his sports knowledge. The guy who runs the board on his show is Andrew Durago. There are times when I honestly believe Andrew doesn't like Dave at all. Maybe it's an act, I dunno though. I think TSR is heading in the right direction and they needed someone like Dave to interrupt their lineup of former Vols. The one thing that Dave does that gets on my nerves is that he literally giggles at his own jokes which gets old.

He is pretty good, but I could not stand him telling Ron Higgins a couple of weeks ago he was jealous of his job, that he was in a better market. Yes, Tn is down right now, but so was LSU. Those that heard his comment know what I am talking about.

Side note, 1180 was not coming in today on radio, anyone know why?

They said they were in the middle of moving locations so im going to assume it had to do something with that. I know they are fairly new to the market but they seem to have interruptions with their signal more than anyone else.

Fake rage. Obviously the starter on Monday's depth chart means squat, but Hooker acts like Dobbs is getting Raw deal. Oh and Hooker said SC would cover easily. F him.

they're definitely headed in the right direction.

For years I've preferred public radio and other non typical avenues to pure sports and radio personalities, especially those to have to work extra hard to seem entertaining. Love him or hate him Tony Basilio never had to try to be entertaining, such was just his personality...to a point some found him obnoxious. :)

I really had a love for radio, it's a dying media outlet. These guys are onto something special, and I think Dave Hooker adds a lot to that. I just wish he'd deliver the news, and give occasional opinion. As opposed to getting cutesy, or making a Star Wars joke that no one but him gets, then laughing at it.

And you have the Beavis and Butt-head Show (I mean Eric Ainge Show) earlier in the morning.

LOL

I turned it off today. I enjoyed his show at first but I have gotten where I can't stand it now. He says things to press ppl and get a rise out of them no doubt. He acts like he knows everything and literally says he disagrees with anything anyone else says. Just got tired of his second guessing everyone. Today he cried about players having midterms and not speaking to media lol.

He giggles like a little school girl. TSR should've kept Basilio

I literally turned the show every single day when Tony was on, that northern shrill high nasal gafaw was too much for me to stomach.

back to hooker. His only respite is he has lot's of player interviews. Hooker makes for good filler in the backgroud.

Well I will start by saying I live in Nashville and the local sports talk up here sucks. All I can say is thank god for satellite radio and the TSR app.

I like Hooker. He brings good info & interviews, especially with his recruiting ties. My favorite all time radio show was KNS sports page with Hooker on the animal.

I stream TSR thru Sonos speaker while getting ready for work. I also listen to EA show. Its ok when he breaks QB play, defenses, etc down. But I only can take show much shennagians. I have to switch to music some days.

I haven't listened to animal in years..

He needs Jamey Schagren back, along with John Adams. Those three together were radio gold.

Nothing compares to the Ainge show on TSR, but I think hooker is a big improvement from Basilio. Hooker follows the program very closely, so he brings some good stuff to the table.

Hooker's still developing his broadcasting style...it might not ever shine at a high level with his Al Gore delivery and his public appearances where he disguises himself as Napoleon Dynamite's grandmother...but he's informative, well sourced and interactive with callers...he's a keeper:)
