I know most people are upset about the offensive play calling (as am I). This thread isn't meant for people who simply want to hate one the various questionable calls or whether the o-line hinders Bajakian's play book.

I know we have various football gurus who know this offense way better than the rest of us. Serious, honest question:

Why does Bajakian/Jones not utilize slant routes? It also seems as if they intentionally try to not run slants. Is there a reason or football philosophy for not running slants in this offense?

I'll hang up and listen. I just don't understand (especially with WR mismatches and a weak o-line). Thanks.

Slants and seam routes were there all day. I have no idea why they were not utilized more.

Agreed. The middle of the field was open all day today. For whatever reason, this offense seems to be focused on the edges regardless of success (minus the TE seam).

I honestly don't know why people are complaining about offensive play calling this game. We had 40 less yards than South Carolina and that was with the best oline Spurrier has ever had at South Carolina. No one gave this team any chance to come close to UGA and put up points, yet they put up 32 without Worley for a quarter. There is no such thing as a perfect game, but Bajakian called a good game today.

We must have been watching two different games.

I have been screaming about the lack of slants for three weeks, glad someone else is noticing.... again, they were open all day and Alton would have done great with them. Can't believe we shot ourselves so many times in the foot and still almost won... good things to come, we just have to stay positive. Hopefully Peyton went into the locker room and gave them a Pep talk after the game.

Players had to overcome the play calling most of the day. If they can't figure out how to stop the bullrush on the QB's then we need more QB's. Probably take 6 or 7 to finish the season.
The team played an inspired game, certainly well enough to win. I think some of the staff is overmatched in SEC/top 20 play.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I simply don't understand.

Pruitt is considered one of the best DC's in the country and Bajakian put up 32 in Athens against him. This is just like last year when I had to constantly read about how Jones should get rid of Jancek.

Whether people want to admit it or not, Bajakian understands and knows defenses better than every single person on here. Every college coach does. He is seeing things from the defense that the untrained eye isn't.

Give me a break on the play calling bashing. We put up 32 on a solid D and without our starting QB for most of the 3rd. Our O line is a major limiting factor in what we can and can't do on offense. Given what he has to work with I think play calling has been acceptable.

Pruit's defense this year simply isn't very good. Their secondary is horrid.

We left a lot of points on the field.
