I went to the game tonight and had an enjoyable time. My thoughts on the team:

It's going to be a long year, I think we all know that. We have two very good guards and that's about it. Patterson was out tonight but he should help some. Wingate has got to get better and be more physical. Asumnu can contribute some if he stays under control. Bradshaw can't play the 4 spot. Bottom line is we are going to have problems scoring. We played two walk ons tonight: Debro and Bosse and it wasn't in mop up duty. Jujuan Smith played hard on defense. The press looked decent at times and we got beat on it a lot. I am confident that will improve. Ryan Childress showed some toughness and seemed to play hard. I didn't see much offense out of him and he's not physical enough at this point to play down low in the SEC. Damian Harris got in for about one minute. He is not ready to play and not being ready to play on this team is saying something. Pearl actually mentioned that he would love to redshirt him but I think that's gonna be tough.

We actually ran some nice sets on offense and you can definitely see a system in place. Pearl was teaching the whole time on the sidelines. He was constantly talking to the bench and the players on the court, teaching.

The team will play hard and I think we will improve as the year progresses. I like what I see and hear from Pearl so far.

by the way, we held on to win but the outcome was in question up until the last minute.

I listened to it on the radio for awhile, then followed GameTracker when I lost the station.

At least we won.

Thanks for the summary freak. I listened on the radio. One thing I noticed when they got down in the second half is that they didn't fold like the Buzz teams seemed to do. With Buzz it was get the lead, lose the lead, and then continue to lose the game. It sounded like they had some steam in the final minutes tonight.

At least they won, that's a positive step for them even in preseason. Pearl will get things going in the next 2 or 3 years.

How was the crowd tonight?

What happened to Lofton? I thought he decided to stay when Pearl showed up on campus?

How is it from an entertainment perspective?

I was at UK when Pitino was there and have been at UAB since Anderson got here. Win or lose, the games are still good to watch.

He and C.J Watson combined for 53 points.

I've met Pearl a couple of times and I really like his attitude toward it all. I'm looking forward to the next few years.

You are right, they didn't quit and I was really impressed with our conditioning. I don't think Buzz could win a game with this team.

It was a good crowd for an exhibition game. They seemed into it the whole time.

It was a fun game to watch. I love the press and the defense. It should get a lot better as our guys improve and learn the system. We need to get the ball down the floor quicker though.

I really enjoyed watching Pearl interact with the players. He really was teaching the whole game. He got really upset with Childress at one point. I think Pearl is harder on Ryan since he recruited him.
