Horses for food

They did this because of the animal cruelty aspect of it. We were shipping our horses that were old and malnourished to mexico and canada to be slaughted, subjecting them to even more punishment from long trips and unsanitary conditions. Its a PETA law that had done the opposite of what they had hoped, now they have come to their senses.

BTW, Donkey sausage is pretty good

Even though its not the intent of the law, and I'm sure they'll go back and amend the human consumption of horse meat, if you don't want to eat horse meat, don't eat horse meat.

I get that but you don't always know exactly what things are made of

still don't understand why wild game isn't more available

Not bad, but I think Dirk Diggler is a better name.

I think the title is misleading as it was a bi-part effort.
Maybe it says something about me that I will shoot and eat most anything that I'm allowed to hunt but am grossed out by the thought of eating my horse. His name is "Neehland". Pronounced as a horse would.

True, but if the media and consumer protection groups do their proper jobs we would know. We now know what's in taco bell's meat and I ate there last night.

Did Obama really authorize this if he auto-penned (robosigned) it? Constitutionalists what say ye?

An Apache warrior could travel for 75 miles in 12 hours. First he would ride his horse as fast as it would go until its heart exploded around the 25 mile mark. Then he would eat the horse and run the rest of the way on foot.

Not really on topic but always wanted to tell that story.

I'm pretty sure most of that has to do with USDA compliance.

probably but it sure is better to eat (and for you). Of course it if was raised like other animals I doubt it would be as good. Not to mention it would need the hormones added to help our children develop at 8yo

Can anyone possibly tell my why it is not possible to say P-H-A-G-E??!?!?!?!?!??

Are people really that freaking thin skinned? or are the people responsible for the nanny filters so sensitive?

sheesh

Making it impossible to type in perfectly valid, legitimate and harmless words is carrying PC entirely too far.

I don't know how any small govt supporting republican couldn't support this bill. Free market and all.

Not sure what to think about this one.

Means Obama just lost the treehugger vote.

Question: will the horse meat be prepared in the halal tradition?

I doubt it would matter, the Arab moslems so revere the horse that I doubt they would eat horse meat.

Here are a couple of verses from the koran;

"Verily felicity is tied in the hooves of horses until judgement day."

"Horse, you are truly a creature without equal, for you fly without wings and conquer without sword."

(My dad had a coffee mug with the latter embossed on it.)

One never knows though, some consume quite a bit of camel meat but others consider it eating camel meat taboo.
