Word out of Murfreesboro is that Rod D is doing his best to get the Middle job vacated by the retirement of longtime coach Steve Peterson.

I don't see anyway he gets it with all the swings and misses he has had in the past 5 years. Anybody know any different about his chances?

Deserves a chance ... Should of never been shown the door in Knoxville .... Would be a good hire for middle and someone that would stay around. Some good talent in the Boro area and mid state to help feel that team

Good recruiter, and the bat regulations play right into his style of play. He could be successful... as long as he pays more attention to the APR than he did at UT.

Middle is a better job than some of the others he has went after without success. I just dont see him as a real candidate.

If that's true, then why has a guy that went to three World Series not even been able to find a full-time assistant's position in all this time?

False.

I'll agree Raliegh should have never been hired.

^ This. Exactly. I hated Delmonico, I really liked Raleigh (disappointed he couldn't get it done, one more year maybe from the outside but if I was AD, I'd have done what happened), and I am also a Serrano fan. But I'm really glad Delmonico is gone, and the program is much better off overall without him.

Deer I have two questions and I feel pretty certain what your answers will be.

Does Rod have a legit shot at middle?

Is there anybody from the Tenn AD that would be a good reference for him?

No idea, but I wouldn't think so. I don't have any real insight into there search process, however.

Maybe Carmen Tegano, but other than that, noone is still there. He didn't have a lot of friends at the end, but most everyone that was in the AD in 2006 is gone today.

Long time Peterson ssistant coach Jim Maguire should get the Middle job. There is a huge sense of family at MTSU, alumni would go ape **** if he didn't get the head job

You are correct. I know a few middle alumni and there will be a huge political nightmare for the ad if he isn't hired. Rod interviewed last week according to his sons twitter and isn't a real factor according to what those same people are telling me.

Per Rod's son twitter he did not get the job. He stated via twitter that God had a different plan. In one of the best message board post ever, a middle fan responded by saying" thank God that God had a different plan".
