Houston hires big name coach

It's a coordinator position. Pruitt will hire who HE wants. Not who YOU want.

Apparently Pruitt either CAN'T hire who he wants or CAN'T decide who he wants since no one has been hired.

Given there is still a signing period in recruiting in February and positions to fill, there is no upside to being a coach/recruiter short right now.

Jealous no but just shows how inept Tennessee football has become honestly I would have been happy with Dana at any point over the last 10 years. West Virginia has done pretty well under him not a national championship coach but a good bowl bid coach more than we have had the last 10 years. Just shows how a school like Houston has more brain power than us we really are like a washed up fighter still trudging through for a payday.

You are all missing the point

Its how quickly and efficiently they were able to make a hire

Not that he's impressed with Dana
Happy New Year BTW! So what is not being done quickly and efficiently? Are we talking about the coaching search in 2017? Once the right AD was in place, the HC hire was done quickly and efficiently and well as the staff. If that is what the frustration is about, that problem is fixed. I don't see the benefit of rehearsing that over and over. If we are talking about the current OC hire, the HC and AD know who that person is, but it can't be announced at this time. I don't see any evidence of persons turning us down. We have to trust them on this. I am very pleased with the job this staff is doing with recruiting. Concerning the OC hire, we will know when the time is right.

Are you really jealous over Houston getting Dana? Really?
Not so much jealous. But we would all have to agree that holgorson is a better hire than Dooley or Jones. Jury still out on Pruitt. And they handled their business the right way.

The answer to this is very simple. The folks that run Houston want to win football games. The folks that run UT don’t care if they win football games because they believe the money will continue to flow regardless of wins.

Yeah if we wanted to win we would have hired David Cutcliffe over Dooley...

I think you're spot on. It hasn't changed one bit. The difference is that people think they know something now.

.. and that their voice is louder now. Can become annoying when they get puffed up with themselves. VN is full of’em

I see people say this from time to time but I don’t think they really understand that Cutcliffe wanted stability over program, money, fans...etc. He knew he wouldn’t have that with Tennessee fans.

Give him $15 mil per...make a statement. 😉

Lol in response to your CJP being a perfectionist and us opening up the coffers for his staff. When he starts winning I wonder how much his measly $4mil salary will increase.....

Not really

Have you been in a coma since 2008?

Tennessee is a national joke when it comes to being able to hire a coach

You guys should be happy we got Rick Barnes without somehow screwing up a hire when the coach wanted the job
And we still had about half the fans on this site complain about the hiring of Barnes.

Holgerson is setting himself up for when the LSU job opens IMO. Get in better ties with local recruiting, not a huge move from Houston to Louisiana if given the chance.

Still stands to reason the remaining targets would want to know who they are playing for or 2020 targets might be interested as well.
True, but it seemed to work out OK for ESD. Could have been better but could have been far worse.

As far as the OC, I'll believe the when/who when the ink dries. We've seen enough of these searches to realize that speculation and name dropping by the media doesn't mean squat in the end.

Don’t think he’s that ambitious. This is a Tuberville to Cincy move.
