"There is no basketball team in America that has a worse track record in its own conference tournament than Tennessee". --- Chris Low

I would have to agree. You would think a team could get lucky and have more success in the conference tourney than Tennessee has over the years.

I'd love to see how many first round losses each SEC team has in this tourney since its inception. Tennessee has to be at/near the top of that list.

Vanderbilt and Ole Miss haven't been much better than UT. Actually, I don't remember Vanderbilt ever making the finals.

Didn't that 4 or 5 win UT team make the semi-finals one year? Am I way off on that? Just curious.

It's nauseating. However, it looks like we have no choice but to do well in the tournament this year because we're falling off the bubble quickly.

Lucky for the last three years, it hasn't been necessary to do well (though I think it cost us a 1 seed last year). This year is a completely different story.

Funny thing is Tennessee is still third in SECT titles with 4, last one coming in '79. Kentucky has 25 and Bama is second with 6. Vandy has one SECT title in '51 and Ole Miss won one in '81.

SECT started in '33, but they didn't have one in '35 or from '53 to '78. Tennessee won three of their SECT titles before '53.

Tennessee is tied for second in SEC regular season Championships with LSU at 9, but we will obviously fall to third after LSU wins their tenth title this year. Ole Miss has never won a reg. season title.

It seems like one of these years we'd at least luck up and make it to the final day. Not happening this year, but it would be nice to do well once before i die.

With the way things ended up in the on the major conference tournaments, Tennessee still wouldn't have been a 1 seed had they won the their tourney last year. There were six teams at the top of the heap, and four definitely looked slightly better on paper (and in the tournament, no less).

We might have jumped ahead of Memphis after winning reg season and tourney SEC titles and beating them on their home court.
