...to drop below us in the polls? Auburn lost by 17 & dropped from 2 to 10, but it was at home and to an unranked...BUT an unranked who is now atop the SEC West. I figure UF's got a little more clout with the voters for some silly reason and that it would take a real pummeling for them to fall to no. 9 or worse. I bring it up because it IS very important, particularly if the Gators were only to drop one conference game, that they get the necessary 5 spots below us in the BCS. Goes without saying all this is contingent on the Vols winning out, but I'm interested in your thoughts...

It'd have to be about what like Arkansas did to Auburn for a considerable drop.

If they only lose by 1 or 3 like the Vols did, they'd probably just drop a spot or two, depending on how the others teams looked.

I'll go with "not a nailbiter last second loss" for a non-specific answer. I think if it is clear that Auburn has outplayed them, they'll fall to 8 or so, right behind us.

Picture this:

Auburn leads by 27-13 with 4 minutes left and goes into prevent. Florida scores a meaningless TD with 22 seconds left. Aubrun wins by 6. We jump Florida;

As opposed to this:

In a back and forth game all afternoon, Auburn scores with 4 minutes left to take a 27-21 lead. Leak leads the gators down the field only to throw and incomplete pass on fourth and goal from the Tiger 7 with 22 seconds left.

The sportscenter highlight of that incompletion keeps the Gators ahead of all 1 loss teams except maybe Texas.

Of course, when Georgia rebounds to beat them by 11 in Jacksonville, the final margin becomes irrelevant:)

Given that Florida beat UT by one at UT, I would say Florida would have to lose by more than 10 and look bad doing it.

Possible.

Not likely.

Hey, as far as I'm concerned, we can win by a half point and look like crap. I'm happy.

Go ye Mighty Gators!

That half point has cost me more money over the years than I care to remember:jpshakehead:

I play poker and horses, but I don't see any thrill to betting on sports and would bever bet for or against my beloved alma mater -- I already got enough riding on it!

VOLS need to worry about winning their remaining games. All the other stuff will take care of its self.

If The Gators lose, they should still be in front of us, unless they lose to, say, Vandy.

Given the reality of the polls they will drop below but if they lose soon enough by the last weekend in November they should be in front.

We lost. It's reality.

You're delusional. If they lose to Auburn which I actually don't expect, they'll drop below Auburn and Auburn shouldn't pass UT. Against that scenario is the fact that UT is off this week which may allow UF to stay above them and for Auburn to pass them. If UF's loss came against UGA and UT could manage to beat Bama alot worse than UF did then I think you are looking at UF dropping significantly and UT moving up.

Concerning your reasoning above, most of the voters didn't see the game and all they know is that UT and UF played an even game wiht UT losing by one. Obviously, most of the voters consider it a "quality loss" at this point considering they've voted UT into the top 10. Most also won't see UF and Auburn. All they'll likely care about is who won and what the score was.

Had the voters actually done any research before voting, Auburn would've fallen alot further than they did.

Tuberville said it best- UF is a very opportunistic team with the skill to take advantage of breaks. The question is whether at some point they don't get enough of those breaks.

I have been at every UF game this year, and that quote at the bottom is my exact opinion of them.

What you're saying about needing UF to drop more than 5 BCS spots below us will only be relevant if their 1 loss is to UGA. And, UF, UGA, and UT would all have to finish with one loss, creating a head-head-head deadlock.
