So I see SEC teams play Big12, ACC, Pac12, etc. teams.

The only B1G team that I have seen SEC play are Michigan, Penn State, and sometimes Wisconsin. It is very rare.

Especially mid/low tier SEC vs mid/low tier B1G. You see games like Miss State vs. Arizona but never Miss State vs. Minnesota.

Take Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan State, Purdue, etc. When is the last time an SEC School played any of them in the regular season?

I find it odd.

Maybe because they have so many bowl tie ins against each other? That’s all I can think of.

Bama has home-and-homes with Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Minnesota scheduled between now and 2033. But who the heck knows if any of those will actually get played? Well, the UW series will because it starts next year. But I won't hold my breath for tOSU or Minnesota.

Tennessee and some university from the state of Ohio had a series scheduled but said Ohio university canceled after the Big 10++++++ went to a 9 game schedule.

Ohio State Cancels Football Games Against Tennessee, Adds North Carolina

In the late 90s, Tennessee and Michigan were in talks to play but Michigan refused to play UT after September and Tennessee didn't want both Michigan and UF in the first month of the season so that one never happened.

not as many regional ties. The Big 12 and ACC make sense, because they are neighbors, and in some cases past conference rivals. No southern team has yet to join the Big 10. Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, and South Carolina all share a state with an ACC rival. TAMU shares texas, Arkansas and Missouri also used to be in the Big 12 and have a lot of old rivalries.

and then also both are the two big dogs, and they don't want to schedule each other to risk their image. The Big 10 would gain a lot playing down in SEC country, making a name for their conference, recruiting. The SEC doesn't "need" to play the Big 10 the same way. we don't recruit up there, we have already proven ourselves in the post season. States like North Carolina, Viriginia, Texas are much more important to our recruiting than Ohio, Michigan, or Pennsylvania.

Because they’re skeeered!
Nah, I don’t know. I don’t recall a regular season game against any B1G team other than the Kickoff Classic against Iowa.
We played PSU when they were independent, as did Bama.

There are not a lot outside of bowl games of which there are a number. In 2022, for example, there was one regular season (Auburn vs Penn State) and four bowl games (SEC was 3-1).

Regular season games going back:
2022 Auburn vs. PSU
2021 Auburn vs. PSU
2019 Vandy vs Purdue
2018 Mizzoo vs Purdue
2018 Florida vs Michigan
2016 LSU vs Wisconsin
2015 Alabama vs Wisconsin
2014 Mizzoo vs Indiana
2014 LSU vs Wisconsin
2013 Mizzoo vs Indiana

Coming up in next few years:
Georgia has OSU in 2030 and 2031. In fact their OOC 2030 looks like fun: OSU, Clemson & Georgia Tech.
Tennessee has Nebraska in 2026 & 2027
Alabama has Wisconsin in '24 & '25. OSU in '27 & '28, Minnesota in '32 & '33.
Did not look up any others.

I would love to see an SEC vs B1G challenge the way it’s done in basketball . Do it over 2 weekends in September. It would be a great way to start college football in week 1. Have 1 marquee game at an SEC campus and have another marquee game at a B1G school the next weekend. This would be a great way to get in position for the 12 team CFP.

Kentucky and Indiana have played early season games in the past. I do not know when the stopped. It was a border rivalry.

Looking at when the games were scheduled vs the Suckeyes-honestly it's for the best.

2018 and 2019

First two years of the cornbread era. Wager at least in 2019 either GStU or BYU replaced them. We lost both. tOSU would have boat raced us both years .

We play the Big 10 a lot in men's basketball tournaments.

Purdue has kicked our ass to the curb a lot in recent NCAA Tournaments.

No B1G wants to play in the South in September and no SEC wants to play up there in November.

Tennessee has played at Notre Dame 4 times in November and while ND isn't in the Big 10, they are located in the heart of Big 10 country
Yep 2-2. I don't remember much about the weather in those games but I have sat in a few darn cold games in Lexington.

Notre Dame in general plays SEC a lot. Even Big East teams like Syracuse, Pitt, and West Virginia have gone to SEC stadiums and had SEC teams travel to their stadiums.

It is mostly the B1G that doesn't play the SEC for some odd reason. When they have played, it has been mostly Neutral sites.

Partially because a lot of Big 10 teams also all play one of the Pac 12 teams each year. Combine that with a 9 conference game schedule and you pretty much have the UF/UGA/USCe OOC scheduling scenario for a lot of them (especially the handful that like to include Notre Dame or older OOC rivals like West Virginia or Iowa State a lot).

Generally true and maybe right but Pac12 tends to play the SEC a lot (same with Big12 and ACC). There are actually more Pac12-SEC matchups than B1G-Pac12 matchups this year.
