How did UT ever fall this far? Last year with two true freshman QB's we won the SEC east and played for the SEC Championship.

This year we are 3-4 so far with a probable loss to ND looming. It is looking like the Vandy game will be the defining moment of this season. As bad as it is, A loss to Vandy would be the straw that broke the camels back.

It's a shame that we have fallen to the point that Vol fans have to worry about losing to Vandy. If there is one bright spot to this season it is that we may see some new faces on the coaching staff next year. Lets just hope that Fulmer can recruit assistants like he can football players. So far the Jury is still out on that one.

The down fall started January 4, 1999. John Ward quit and Randy Sanders started. Been down hill from there! :mf_surrender: No more.

If you examine last year's games, and this year's you'll see that in most of the ones last year we made 2-3 critical plays to win close ones... this year, we do the opposite and don't make the breaks. If we were making the breaks on the close plays like last year, we'd be 7-0... as it is 3-4.

Is Texas, USC or Va. Tech winning by hoping to get breaks? (Or kicking butts)? What you are saying is that last year's good record was a lucky fluke.

Those 3 teams that you mention do 3 things that we don't do.

1. They play the game to win the game instead of play the game to lose the game.

2. They don't really buy into the philosophy of take what the defense gives you. They give what they want and make the defense deal with it.

3. They execute and make the big plays.

You know what... I almost close to pulling for Vandy in this one. I mean, come on, if we can't make it to a bowl game then why not let them? I'd like to see them go to a bowl. Do they still have a chance? I don't really keep tabs on them much. The ND game will tell me how I'm gonna root on this one. If we win, I go for UT. If we lose, I go for Vandy. Those kids deserve it more than we do if we can't execute and play good football. Don't hate me... please. Vandy is my 2nd favorite team... right behind UT. Heck, I even got into Vandy, but sadly I couldn't afford it. LOL. Good night and good luck.

You know, I hate to point this out, but we didn't exactly blow away inferior competition last year in any sort of impressive fashion. We nearly lost to Vandy, Kentucky and Ole Miss. The 10-2 record could have easily been 6-5. Point being, perhaps we all should have seen this coming.

good football teams win close games - great football teams kick the crap out of clearly inferior teams.

Two words people - Jay Cutler. We have him and you don't. (Sorry, thats about the only thing we can brag about over UT last 4 yrs is that our qb is better than yours). This will be his last game in the SEC and he will prevail (at least I really hope so, that would the happiest day of my sports cheering life) and we will make a bowl! See how much we Vandy fans have to cheer for. (I cant believe we lost to frickin Murfreesboro State, ahhhhhh). Prior to this upcoming victory, the biggest Vandy game of the last decade was this seasons road win over Arkansas, pretty pathetic I'd say. Clausen/Ainge cant hold a finger to Cutler, who is undoubtedly the best player to ever play for VU. Watch out Vols fans, Nov 19 will be a depressing day.
