I can't believe how this team has come alive. Hats off to CCM and his staff for turning them around. I do believe the officating has helped them on D sense they seem to let them play more in the tournament. If we want to continue we need more help from the bench.

Where was the fan support? Not blaming it on the fans but they weren't getting the best of support after tough losses. Our offense wasn't clicking and our defense was inconsistent. Everything clicked at the right time I guess.

The team we see now is simply a different team then what we saw then. I don't know what happened (the late-season burst was actually predictable), but this is just a different beast of a team

top 10 attendance in the country for a team that never made it into the top 25? I don't think you can ask for more support than that.

I just believe there are teams who get it right from the start and teams for whom the light doesn't come on until the end of the season. Don't know how Coach Martin did it. But he got these guys to understand and play for each other.

In 1986 Jeff Powell was racing down the sidelines for Tennessee against Miami in the Sugar Bowl for the game-breaking touchdown. After he scored, Frank Broyles began a statement he didn't finish: "When nobody cares who gets the credit..."

The most dangerous team is the one that doesn't care what individual gets the public attention for winning so long as the win is recorded. Tennessee has reached that level now. I wish they would've done it earlier. But I'm thrilled for coaches and kids alike that they got there. That attitude has served them well throughout the tournament.

Better late than never.

Let's not rehash this again! Let"s all just be happy we made the S16 and have the chance to shock the NCAA world if they keep playing at this level!

Who cares. If we had beaten A&M twice, beaten Vandy, and beaten UTEP we probably would have been a 4 seed in the tourney, and guess where we'd be? Right where we are now, getting ready to play a 1 seed in the Sweet 16. Everything that happened before now is water under the bridge and 100% irrelevant. GBO! Go Cuonzo!! Go baseball Vols!!! Go Lady Vols hoops and softball!! Go Butch!! Finally, IT"S GREAT TO BE A VOLUNTEER AGAIN!!!!

Tenn is playing better because coach Martin has been able to get the team to play according to rules that good teams obey. Basketball is a game that is played in a short distance to the rim. Thus an inside game is extremely important. How many times have you heard coach Martin say that our success is how well we are able to get the ball inside to the low post players. The outside three point shots are not high percentage shots. Misses are generally not good rebounding shots. So shots closer to the rim are shots that inside players are able to rebound. If you have a player like Jamall Stokes that has exceptional strong hands you are going to be able to rebound missed shots. Add a player like Maymon and you have two individuals that are able to occupy a tremendous amount of the space around the basket. Tenn has stopped the outside shots as a first resort to their game. We have a couple of players that shoot outside shots and we should restrict them from shooting. In particular at this point in his career, D. Thompson is not proficient in his three point attempts and should not take shots from the outside for rest of season. Moore is another that his outside shot is not proficient and should take only limited shots from the outside.

Wish he would recruit players to fit his philosophy as he's only gotten one quality post since he's been here - Stokes. He tried really hard with Nichols. Hope he can lock down a stud post in next year's class.

Are you serious? Its not like we tried to dump our coach over mid season or anything. Oh not at all.

To answer the question posed, we had losing gameplans and no intensity or aggression. The problems that haunted this team. I think we scored less than 60 both games, iirc. Now, we change philosophy and score 78/gm during this winning streak.

would argue that we were unlucky. Stats don't care if you win by one or lose by one. The winning and the losing is statistical noise. In other words, that dude that hit both threes against us misses those shots FAR more than he makes them. In this case, he made them, though, and so we lost to them twice. Kenpom doesn't care whether those shots go in or not. He sees them only as very close games.

In short, sabrmetrics folks would say we just had a very unlucky season in which strange things happened. Martin's not a bad coach because some dude who can't shoot knocks down threes to win the game twice in one season.
