Tennessee has talk of a possible secondary recruiting violation, and we lose all momentum for a month. Meyer says he's leaving, then he is not, but he is going on leave, and they are ranked #2 in recruiting?!?

If Carroll leaves, I would normally think we get a couple of top notch players or maybe three, but after what Fl has accomplished, I am not so sure anymore.

The timing sure is interesting, with the announcements at the all-star game coming up tomorrow.

Unless they are committing purely to the university, it just doesn't make sense.

They are committing to programs that have established a consistent tradition of winning. They are also committing to programs that have successfully marketed themselves in a way that makes teens want to attend there.

Its "the place" to be. It takes time to establish that. Hopefully with the changes made in the past couple of years, UT can become a program like that again.

I guess you are right. I just wonder how Ronald Powell is feeling right about now. Those are his top (only?) two.

Both programs will be fine without their coach. USC gets the pick of California and UF gets Florida. I'm sure neither school wants to lose them but they will hire big and just reload. If UConn lost their coach it would be a big deal.

Also, keep in mind that USC and Florida are in the backyard of a lot of recruits, many of whom want to stay close to home. Add in the weather. And the beaches. And the ladies. It's a lot to like.

It's not signing day yet either. We don't yet know that FL held on to their commits. We may be saying that in a month, but right now we can't.

Does anyone think we have a chance with USC commits like Robert Woods, Dillon Baxter, etc...?

We lose momentum because we only have hostesses with signs. FU and USC have HOstesses.

I say that USC commits are there for the taking at the Moment. I believe that Pete Carrol had actually become bigger than the USC program.

I am not saying it doesn't. Just that Pete Carrol had the Charisma that had become that program.

Pete Carrol is a classier football version of John Calipari. I will be happy when he signs with seattle

With our deeply rooted West Coast ties, Carrol leaving SC only benefits Tennessee in the long run.

USC was highly mediocre for about fifteen or twenty years before Carroll came along. To put it less nicely, they sucked. There's no guarantee the next guy they get will just continue in stride without missing a beat; I would say it's almost a guarantee he won't. Not many Pete Carrolls out there.

The school has tradition and they have first shot at California recruits. There are very few coaches that will stay put no matter what. USC will get who they want and with the media hyping coaches as the next big thing recruits will follow. The down year this year along with Washington and Oregon coming along will hurt though. UCLA must be dancing in the streets.

I think its all the great weather.
:)the greatest weather is not in alabama nor fla or lousie Lsu or even Ga. To hot and humid. Ill take the cool 85 to 90 deg. Tenn temp over fla and the rest anytime. Its discustingly hot in the deep south. However in the fall when its football time in tenn. and the weather in 80 ish. cool night, the Owls even come to watch the games. The HS games on fri night and the Vols on saturday, the vol walk. Its electrifying.:clapping:

I would venture to say that we have less STDs than So Cal and Florida as well.
