My cable provider Bright House here in central florida was just bought out by charter in a 10 billion dollar deal. How do you all like charter in TN?

Debating on making the switch before the season if its no good.

I have Charter for TV only and it's not reliable, but that's going to be an issue depending on what runs down your street and how far you're located from their amplifier. Alternatively, the telephone provider has a fiber line running by the house. I want to switch over, but the sports tier on the Charter CTV includes all of the ESPN networks, but the telco on the fiber bundles several of the sports channels with the highest cost package. Depending on what you watch, high speed internet plus Netflix might be your best option. In general though, Charter is like the rest of the cable companies... they suck and don't care a lot about their customers because they've had virtually no competition for 35 years.

Thanks for the info, I pretty much watch espn and the news only. Definitely want to have access to the SEC network

I've never bothered, but if you are already a cable customer and call them to turn off the service, they will cut the subscription cost in half for a year or so to retain you. A boat load of their revenue is from selling ads on their system and the more subs they have the more they get to charge the advertisers.

My mom lives in Farragut and has it. It's reliable there and customer service is always excellent. Definitely not Comcast.

I doubt you will notice much if any change in reliability. The infrastructure is still the same. Your channel numbers may change and any disputes Charter has with networks will affect you now and that's about it.

They're a decent company I don't think you have anything to worry about. They do in fact have the SEC Network and you should have no trouble getting it being in Florida. It should be a part of a regular package and not cost extra money.

Had Charter for 7 years. Hated it. When we moved and I got DTV, I immediately asked myself why in the world I put up with that crap so long.

Do those of you with satellite TV also have satellite based internet? If so, how do you deal with the hard data limits imposed?

No, I have FiOS for internet. The prices are ridiculous for any of the satellite internet providers and the speeds are very slow with low monthly caps.

Where I live it's either Sateliite or dial up but luckily we have great cell phone service so we can tether our phones for a wireless connection and it works great

I've had Charter for 10 years. Their service and responsiveness has been excellent. Very reliable internet too.
