he listed in the press conference when he fired Dooley. He said that he was going to bring us a coach with SEC experience.

I need an explanation as to how I can get excited about a coach who has only coached in minor conferences and has never recruited at the big time level.

I think that is why a lot of us are disappointed. We were led to believe that we were going to get a coach that would give us hope and not a coach that we have to wait and see.

There are 4 type of good coaches we could have got
1. High Risk Reward - Kiffin
2. Established but predicable - Pelini
3. Up and Comer - Jones
4. Pipedream - Belichick

Our Up and Comer is a Great Hire. (no cheap jokes please)

Admitted, recruiting at Cincy is not the same as in the SEC however, CBJ has done a good job of bringing in NFL talent. I think with the right staff Tennessee should remain competitive recruiting in the SEC. We won't be able to out recruit fla, bama or GA but we haven't ever really been able to.

Im liking this hire and can't wait to see more.

nothing cheap about paying almost $5MM a year for a coach when you include the buyouts

Just let the men take care of the football discussion around here.

Hart offered the job to a guy with SEC experience. Papa Johns ponied up $4 million dollars to keep said coach. One who plays the race card, BTW. We got a guy who turned down a high dollar offer from Colorado, and jumped to get the UT job.

5 years for 13 million isn't high dollar

Every new coach is a wait-n-see. Nothing is a sure thing in coaching. Ask Rich Rod.

Look up the bios of Saban, Brian Kelly, Urban Meyer, and Jim Tressel. They only coached in minor conferences before LSU, ND, UF, and OSU hired them. Everyone comes from somewhere small. Best if our fan base learned that.

But this is what I don't understand. Why can't we expect to recruit with anyone in the SEC. We have great facilities, great fans and many top recruits with in a 5 hour drive of Knoxville.

This program is a train wreck and there is no logic in a big time coach leaving where they already are to come here and have a tougher job for slightly more money. It's that simple. CBJ is as good a hire as they could have gotten out of this.

Should I feel good that we beat out Colarado? Just saying.

Look out AF. Don't get the women folk stirred up. I follow both of them and they know their stuff.

Must be coaches daughters or wives!

I definetly have respect, my wife just rolls her eyes at me when I try to talk UT football with her!

I was not happy with the hire at first, because I to had high hopes of a coach with SEC experience! I have stepped back and thought a few things out. 1) All the other coaches were not jumping at the TN job, just using it for pay raises. 2) CBJ had the job at CU and when he seen CCS turn us down he turned down CU and knew he wanted to be a Tennessee Vol!!!! He want's to be here so 1) I will be on board with him (because I feel he really wants to be here) and 2) I bleed ORANGE.

The fact is he does not meet the criteria.
