How doesn't Croom get the 3rd spot

Looks like it'll be Pig, North, and a battle between Croom and Smith.

Croom seems like he'd dominate on the position. Kind of a hybrid WR/TE. There won't be a lot of S or LB's that can cover him.

How this is even a battle is beyond me but that's why I don't make the big money.

Seeing them actually play may help to form an opinion

Maybe have different starters as the season goes on... Based on production, just a thought

He's not being an ass. He's stating the obvious. Be honest with yourself. You haven't seen Croom in much live action and neither have I. Maybe at this point the other guys are just better.

Does it really matter who starts? From what we've heard from coaches, it looks like we'll be playing a lot of receivers in this offense.

It's a legit point.

The op is making an assumption about who is the better player without anything to go on.

If "butch gets it", the right guy will be on the field

Actually, I think he's just asking a question and conceded that the coaches are the ones that know.

If he can't run routes or remember the plays then that increases chance of QB throwing interceptions. Right? Right. Butch gets the big bucks to figure it out. If Croom looks like Godzilla but plays like Cinderella then he won't help much. I hope he catches on and has a great career and makes a lot of money in the NFL. It may just take a little time.
