Texas gets 95% of their recruits from in-state. They have most of them committed before spring practice starts, and they get their pick of the top talent. just go look at: Scout Football Recruiting Network Front Page They already have a ton of guys committed. It makes me appreciate how hard UT coaches have to work to bring in out of state talent!

It's about as easy as it is to be Florida recruiting-wise. And then there's the easier schedule.

A state that covers 2-3 time zones, and that large will have a large number of schools which in turn will create a boat load of talent. The program is one of the Elite. They win and have set the bar. Our talent level has never been good. A defining factor is the population in comparison to number of D1 recruits. Ca, Tx, Fl all have a large poulation.

Mack Brown and Texas cant get all of them. And now we have a couple guys who can recruit Texas, which is great

I live near Dallas and Texas can get the any of the top recruits in the state if they want them. A few years ago Stoops up in OU would come down and get some away from Texas, but since Texas won with Vince Young and beating OU in the Red River shoot out they have not been able to. Texas has many great players that do not go to U Texas. TCU and Tech and really shown that they can get a few and develop some of the 3-4 star recruits. UT got Lofton this year and think Vols may be getting more from Texas is the future. Nick Stephens played in the town next to where I work. High School football is much like college in many other states. Friday Night Lights movie was just a true example.

GBO!

Got a question. With Marcques Dixon and Channing Fugate listed as ath where will they play. Off. or Def side of ball. And with the recievers we signed could M Teague from last years class go to db. And what happened to the Glass kid that was talking to Tenn this year. Think he is from Texas. He plays on the OL

Mack Brown hardly even leaves Austin for recruiting. Very easy job to succeed at, players come to you, schedule is a cakewalk. My only hope is that the program chokes on its own hubris, and that complacency sets in. Otherwise, its 10+ wins and BCS bowls every year, while we have to fight and scrap for top recruits and play florida, bama, georgia and auburn/lsu every year.

i believe dixon will play cb and do some returning.... fugate could play fb or lb... and teague can play just about anywhere i think he will move to db but he could play wr or run the wildcat

The Big 12 North still lags behind but the South is as strong top to bottom as either SEC Division with Tex, OU, OSU, A&M, TTU, and Baylor.

However recruiting Texas is probably easier. Texans take alot more pride in being Texans than Floridiots do in being Floridiots. As someone said, the only school that routinely takes home state recruits that Texas wants is OU.

Most of TX is in the Central Time Zone, but extreme western TX, including El Paso, is in the Mountain Time Zone.

Good post, definitely right about the Texas pride, that helps in recruiting quite a bit. While the big 12 south is strong, the north stinks and their OOC is generally weak.

You should check out the roster of the 1985 team that won the Sugar Bowl. If memory serves, about 3/4 of the team was from Tennessee, including both tailbacks.

Easier than Florida recruiting-wise.

With the Big XII the way it is, a more competent coach than Mack Brown should have had at least three national titles in the last five years.
