I'm a hopeless optimist. I think we can make some noise in this tourney. Just look at the last two games. Can you say there have been teams performing better? What's your take?

I like to think we have a good shot at making the Sweet 16. Don't know enough about Texas and Michigan to assess our chances against them.

Michigan should beat Texas. Michigan has a giant hole on the inside. Jordan Morgan can't play with Stokes. That being said, they have 3 long wings that play the 2-3-4 in Lavert, Stauskas, and Robinson.

Richardson matches up with Stauskas, MacRae matches up with Lavert, but Robinson is Maymon's worst nightmare. That being said, Michigan is 303 in rebounding.

Me, either. That's why I asked the forum. I just think that, based on our play the last couple game,s we can make a run. Can't count our chickens, but is (gasp) a final four possible? That would involve beating AZ, I believe.

Anything is possible, but if we're speaking realistically the sweet sixteen is probably the endgame for this team with an outside shot at Elite Eight.

I know it feels like we should be deeper since we had to play the play-in game, but the reality is that we still have to battle through the round of 32 to get to the coveted sweet sixteen berth we all want.

AZ is in a different region. The most dangerous teams in ours besides the other UT and UofM are Louisville and Witchy.

Mercer is beatable so that would be Sweet 16

Michigan and Texas are both beatable, but we would have to play very well, so that would be elite 8.

Who comes out of the top of our region could be one to watch. I think we match up horrendously with Louisville and don't know that we could beat them. I do however think we could beat Wichita State or Kentucky.

It's all about matchups in the tourney, we could make a final four with a good draw, or could've lost the round 1 game to Iowa. Just keep playing like we have, if not better, and things will work out.

Maybe there will be a surprise that will help us. Here's hoping. I like your take on it, though. Gonna be a fun ride, anyway, if we can get past Mercer.

As long as this team plays the defense they've been playing.....attacks the way they have been attacking.....and handing presses the way the have been handling them.....this squad can go as far as they want to go......

Gotta believe you belong.....then play like you belong.....then you win like you belong....because you belong :dunno:

Keep playing like we are and Barton suddenly gets hot...Look Out.
Just hope the legs hold out. That extra game could catch up with us.

I think Tennessee makes it to the Elite 8. If we're playing Louisville or Wichita State, we're playing with house money. We can beat either team, but I wouldn't be very confident. I think Louisville is similar to Florida, with their full court intensity and steady point guard, they would be a tough matchup for us. Wichita State takes very good care of the basketball, and Early would neutralize our interior advantage that we're growing accustomed to.

If we win tomorrow evening, that will no longer be a concern. Our next game would be on Friday, which would give the players plenty of time to rest up and prepare for the regional semi-final in Indianapolis on the 28th.

I don't want more surprises. I want to beat the best in front of us. I want a Final 4 but I want to earn it, not by beating Mercer,Texas and STL. I want revenge on UofL from the Buzz debacles and 2008.

If we win tomorrow I'm not worried about legs, plenty of days to rest and Nic has these guys in phenomenal shape

Did you have the same opinion of Bruce Pearl's elite 8 run? That team only beat one team seeded in the top 10 (O.S.U.).

I would argue that we've already made some noise. We kinda elucidated what everyone has been saying about the tourney being seeded so horribly imo by making Umass look like a 16 seed and making ourselves look like the 10 or lower that we should have been.

Well said. My co-workers told me that UT had a load in front of them with UMASS. I told them that UMASS has no idea what's about to hit them.
