It was just 6 short years ago that we was at the pit of despair with the infamous "Turnover Trash Can" in all its glory bouncing upon our sideline, a new mascot that perfectly represented our program as a whole.
The memes wrote themselves all over the country, I believe we even got a SEC Short about the gimmick.

Fast forward a few years later like the VHS tapes that have probably been disposed in the very same "Turnover Trash Can" this program has accomplished a lot.

Under CHP we have won more, developed players and actually have the best players on the field and not on the sideline like a famous NFL RB was during his tenure here.
Every week I see improvement in some aspect of play and not just another brick that never builds anything but a landfill for the hopes and dreams of Vol fans everywhere.
We haven't seen a coach using trash from McDonalds to pay players to under perform at Tennessee.

Trash has been the program for years but not now, we are now past the days of symbolism of the trash can, Tennessee is now a 48ish hours from beating Alabama two years in a row.

Its been a wild ride but in the end I think it was worth it!!!

Go VOLS and *uck Bama

I've been thinking back to 2014 a lot lately. We were 5-6 and squeaked out a hard fought win against Vandy to go 6-6 and finally get back to a bowl game, and we were so excited about it. It legitimately felt like we had accomplished something.

Sitting at 5-1 right now, unhappy with our current play, just shows how different things are now.

What Heupel has been able to do in such a short time is beyond amazing.

We have Two EZ games this second half, 2 challenging games and two tests of Will and might. All We can ask for is that we are in the hunt late in the fourth quarter of all these games, even the easier ones. Time to pull out my VolFribulator, as it is going to be a gut wrenching, gnarly and tumultuous 6 weeks. I hope all Vol Nations fans live to tell about it!

Hurd and Kamara would have both had better opportunities with Heupel.

Jones destroyed Hurd's career.

I think Huepel is a better coach than Saban. Too early to say whether he's a better program manager and it would be tough to out recruit Saban, but as far as game day coaching our guy is better than theirs right now.

Without the talent advantage Saban enjoyed pre-NIL? Heck yeah. Saban is a good coach but his greatness was established via the talent and how the alabama mafia acquired the talent. Equal talent on the field Heupel easily wins > 50% head to head.
Oh, ok. I didn't know there were caveats.

You're missing a key part of the equation here. That talent was not there when he got there - he recruited it. Recruiting is the biggest part of the success or failure of a college coach; it's why Saban and Smart have won on a level that no one else has lately, and why we aren't on their level. If Heupel can't start recruiting at that level - and now there are no excuses with the NCAA mess over with - then he's not the guy.

The thing about gimmicks like the turnover trash can is that when you’re winning it looks like a great thing, when you’re losing it looks like a clown show. Bottom line, if you’re going to use locker room gimmicks it better be followed by winning
Agree but there is NO context in which a trash can being used in football is a good thing
