How have Bama become this good?

I know this may sound like a silly question, so please forgive me.....

Can someone explain how Bama are as good as they are?

Is it really just good coaching and recruiting or are they violating some rules here?

I just get the impression that if the NCAA did a proper investigation, they would come down like a ton of bricks....

Maybe I am just trying to find an excuse for the loss, I don't know, but they are in a different league to the rest of the sport, to the point where it is becoming suspicious.....

Any explanation would be great.

GO VOLS.

You see, when you have better players you tend to win. They have better players, but not for long.

Saban is a good coach, they recruit at the top every year. We have been through four coaches in a few years. Butch is getting us on the right track, but it takes time. Not that long ago, Alabama use to be really bad and we were on top..

Alabama has the best players in the country, due to absolutely great recruiting (more like drafting for the Tide) as well as some of the very best coaches. Great college teams have superior athletes and extremely good development of the great players.

Julio Jones was driving a tricked out late model escalade ( with no job) while his single mom raising younger kids worked as an assistant manager at Church's fried chicken.

It really isn't that hard to figure out. Bama is dirty, always has been and always will be.

I think you mean Trent Richardson.

His baby momma and momma were also living in a series of houses around Bham "house sitting" for bammer alumni.

That's just ONE thing...there have been literally about 40.

I didn't think the op meant in comparison to the Vols but in comparison to the overall BCS subdivision. Even USC that has all the history of Bama and then some plus high dollar private school cache, the then top dawg superstar head coach, and being located in the middle of the primo hs football talent hotbed had to pay players to win. Just think about it for a second or two.

My point EXACTLY. Carroll DID cheat...and yet Saban is outrecruiting what he did at USC just down the road from Hollywood by a MILE!!!

It doesn't add up...the difference is that Carroll got busted by a disgruntled agent and so far Saban has avoided that.

OP should follow the recruiting forum a little closer. Saban is a complete ass. He will recruit over you, make u quit, and/or use the medical scholarship option. He does this more than any other coach. He uses the rules to his advantage and stock piles talent. And the reality is that they win so it sells.

Someone is, anyway.

They used to have a pretty sweet pipeline to the Memphis high schools. It blew up when, ten years or so ago? Boosters were paying HS coaches to point their players toward Bama, if I recall correctly, and I might not. But someone was running a racket there. It made quite a splash in the Memphis papers.

Bama fans used to get furious when this was brought up. We'll see if our Bama troll on this thread bites. :)

The whole Albert Means ordeal.

Yep. Don't understand why all the Saban slurpers can't see this. He flopped in the NFL, so it's clear he isn't some football coaching genius. He gets the best talent in the country by whatever means necessary, has top cover at the NCAA front office, then chirps on about how it is all about the process and preparation that makes them so good.

Bama is dirty. Their past has a proven track record of such. Lance Thompson never killed it in recruiting here, yet won recruiter of the year at Bama. Why do we think that is. They played a player today that was paid by a coach. They had a former player handing out cash to current players, including one of ours that is still suspended.

I just don't buy it. It's easy to look invincible when you have an advantage no other team does.

Somebody needs to expose this conspiracy. Saban worships baphomet...that is all. GoVols!!!

Do you honestly think some media source would not love to break a story about UA "dirty" football program. The reason there is no smoke is because there is no fire. Get real, it is as simple as great recruiting, great player development, and bending (not breaking) NCAA rules.

Not too long ago they were struggling and made a major "all-in" type of move to land Saban and the investment has paid off in a big way.

Hopefully, our investment in Jones will yield similar results.

There's plenty of places that offer all those things in a lot better surroundings than Tuscaloosa. I have no doubt that UT has done its share of shady recruiting and probably would be doing so now if it weren't for the lingering effects of Pearls bbq, hostessgate and the rest of it. It's part of the game. I think that in the past there was an unspoken acknowledgement that if you didn't take it over the top you could skirt suspicion but it suddenly seems that for some people there is no ceiling while for others the threat of sanctions looms like the sword of damacles.

While most head coaches busy themselves chasing 3, 4 and 5 star recruits, coach Saban seldom misses on the caliber of football player wearing those stars. Think about it?

that's not true. His misses just end up "injured" and open up their spot

RECRUITING--RECRUITING....and that Saban guy that everyone loves to hate on---HE GOOD!

Bama simply DOMINATES the Line of Scrimmage on both sides of the ball--It's a PHYSICAL mentality. They don't try to trick you, they don't try to finesse you--the line up every play with an attitude of "we gonna whoop dat azz" and they get it done!

And great athletes WANT to play for those kinds of teams--and come from all over the country to play for Saban.

BUTCH will get us competitive there eventually....and the AL-TN rivalry will be a WAR again....:salute: GO VOLS!

JC, are you serious? THEY HAVE!

The issue is the NCAA won't enforce it. HaHa says hi, thanks for the money coach. Fluker's money trail is there for everybody to see (UT seems to be the only paying for that one), cars, suits, textbooks, jobs for girlfriends.

Seriously. Emmett and company at the AA have their cash cow and buddies to look after. It isn't even a conspiracy, it's the way it is.

But let's not pretend Saban is some football God. Throughout history, the coaches with the best players always look like geniuses. Saban simply has an advantage at getting them. Nothing more.

There has been media who have reported on Sabans cheating. They have all been blogs and not been taken seriously. The major news media will not report, why? Mark Emeritt will pull their credentials, look at the UM investigation.
