How is Houston ranked ahead of Vols?

I don’t think they did the rankings and then stopped considering the teams altogether. At this point I would be surprised if the committee still has us over Houston. It would almost entirely hinge on the stability in their rankings that you have cited.
I don't think they did either, but in no way is it rational to think the #8 team jumped over the #5 team when both teams haven't lost, and the #5 team won a game at the #6 team in their rankings. I've realized there's no winning against BVS on this board. LOL

We shouldn't have lost to Kentucky twice...and a 3rd time in sec tourney if we play. They just have our number this year. BVS perhaps..but it is what it is.

My opinion, depending on how the conference tournaments play out, it will come down to us or Houston as the last 1 seed / first 2 seed.

The SEC is better this year, but let’s not act like the Big 12 isn’t good. They play really good basketball in that league, year in and year out. It takes a really good team to get to 14-1 or whatever they are in that league.
It’s good but it’s not as good as the SEC this year and it’s not that close this year either. I never said Houston isn’t really good but you can’t remotely compare conference schedules by itself as justification to put Houston ahead of Tennessee. On top of that, Houston has zero nonconference quad 1 wins while we have 3.

I would actually have Houston ahead of Florida at #3. Houston has the #1 defense and #18 offense. A really balanced team who has some big road wins.
Interesting. Florida is ranked really high on both as well. Per kenpom UF and Houston are both top 10 offense and defense. UF only has 3 quad 1 road wins while Houston has 5 but UF certainly has the crown jewel winning at Auburn. Houston is 8-4 quad 1 while UF is 5-3 but UF also only has 3 total losses to Houston’s 4. The reality is that Florida, Houston and Tennessee are all very close to each other. I think the loss that bugs me most was that Vandy loss. I hate losing to UK too but they’ve taken down several elephants this year. We should’ve beaten Vandy. It is what it is though. We’re all “arguing” about incomplete information so until it’s complete it’s all moot.

Houston (23-4, RPI #7, .644) top 20 wins: #12 TA&M by 4
#9 Iowa Iowa had two top scorers out of the game
No top 20 road wins.

Vols (22-5, RPI #3, .661) top 20 wins: #3 Florida, #14 Missouri, @#12 TA&M by 8
They used the "eye" test, which will tell almost anyone that Houston is a better team than the Vols. Remember, they play whomever is on their schedule. If those teams are or are not in Top 20 is not on Houston. Add to that, Houston is a historically good BB program. They will make it to the E-8 at least.

I'd feel better if we don't see the Cats until later in the bracket which means they'll fold to someone else. They can score with many guys.

After doing some research here's something I think is important for us in fighting Houston for that #1 seed. Houston lost to San Diego State on a neutral court. San Diego State are currently 49 NET.

That loss is teetering on becoming a quad 2 loss ( 51-100 NET on a neutral court)
We need to hope San Diego State loses to New Mexico, Wyoming, UNLV, or Nevada.
Hopefully all lol.

New Mexico @SDSU tonight @11p.m.
