For those that follow closely...

How are we looking? Is it too early to tell? Based on our upcoming schedule, when should we have a good idea about this team?

Next few games:

Cincinnati (up 6-0 in the 3rd)
East Carolina
SE Louisiana
Western Kentucky
ETSU
UC Irvine (3 game series)

I know all of the writers picked us to finish last in the SEC, but baseball can be tough to gauge.

TIA

Normally pitching is ahead of hitting, not the case for us so far. Tonight's game was really needed, pitching from top to bottom was the best it's been, but Cincinnati just hasn't been able to put together much offense, they have played a tough schedule too.

We also play Maryland in addition to ECU this weekend and we'll face their Aces...both will be very good tests for our hitters.

Too early to tell how good we can be. Not really played anybody yet. We started this way a couple of years ago but once we hit the SEC schedule we got to see how bad that team was. No doubt we're better. How much better?

Hard to tell until we see stiffer competition. I think we're going to score runs. Can the pitching hold up enough for us to not have to outscore people in shootouts every game? That's probably the biggest question.

We have some solid bats in the lineup. We also have a couple of solid starting pitchers minus Serrano who appears to be lost for the season due to Tommy John injury. I think we're going to end up being better than we were picked. Do I think we can compete for the SEC title? Probably not that confident! Ha!

Thanks for the info fellas. I hate that we were picked last in the SEC, but competition in the conference is pretty solid. I hope we can come out on top against those aces this weekend. Looks like we can put up some runs, but I don't know what kind of pitching we've been facing.
