So far I've gathered we've got two firm commitments in John Brown and Patrick Harris, plus I assume we are going to offer and get Matt Simms so that makes three JUCO guys. Plus I've read in here that we are probably leading for John Cullen as well, so how many more JUCO guys is Kiffin going to take?

We take as many as we need to this year. Don't look for us to take more than 2-3 a year after this one. I would put the cap this year on 7.

Spot on IMO. JuCos are always good to fill holes that sometimes develop despite your best recruiting efforts.

The 2 DTs
Simms
Maybe Thompkins if he has his grades
2 OL
Maybe 1 LB (The guy from Miami NW possibly? I can't think of his name)

So that works I guess

what 7 was you thinking?

John Cullen should be one. Then we take a JuCo QB -- most likely Simms, we have John Brown and Pat Harris already, trying to get Bruce Irvin back. That will probably be it. Although I don't think expect Harris to qualify. Stranger things have happened though.

Lavonte David, Maurice Hayes, and Rozell(sp) Gayden are three I would keep my eyes on as well. Cullen may not be as good of an option as once thought. He picked up offers from Florida State and I can't really remember the other. He's gotten 5 other offers in 2 weeks.

Miami. He's a good option, it's just going to be a dogfight to land him. His opportunity to play early here is much better than the other schools that have offered and I think that's why we sway him.

Bryant said they evaluated Chuckie Curry again last week and he has had a UT offer for a while. They may try to pick back up on him...

cant that easily be fixed?

Not without the desire on his part. I remember there were several who questioned his work ethic coming out of high school--one being from his hometown. Unless there are no questions about his work ethic and heart by the staff, I say we pass on him. Doubt anyone agrees w/ me but I'm seeing several negative indicators. He can't control his weight to the extent our scheme would need, he didn't make the grades out of high school and whispers floated that he didn't give it 100% at his high school. I'm seeing a red flag. Natural ability only gets one so far (see Vinson, Warren, Morley, Banks, many more)...

Just look at the debacle that is Aubrey Phillips. That guy is hopeless. Glad we steered clear of that mess.

The philosophy is always and always will be it's better to get them undersized and build them up to playing weight than it is to bring them down from being too heavy.

Agree 100%. I wouldn't be surprised if Moses turns into Aubrey Phillips v2. If we take him, I hope I'm wrong...
