How many of you were calm once we scored the touchdown right before halftime.

I'm a very passionate orange fan who can get a little nuts while watching the game as I'm sure most of you can relate. I was starting to say....."oh no!!! shades of last year's meltdowns", but when that last touchdown before halftime was made and the way the drive was executed I found myself feeling something I haven't felt for 8-10 years now. Not since Peyton's Junior and Senior years have I felt confident that we can not only get back in the ballgame but can win the darn thing.

There has been a lot of talk about the rebirth of Eric Ainge's career with the return of David Cutcliffe but now I'm sold. I know he put up good numbers this year so far, but to bring his team back from the brink of a rout, never losing confidence, being poised and polished and a true leader is new to him. And he wore it well.

What do you all think? Are we seeing another NFL QB from Cutcliffe in the making?

I think by now, we should all be able to remember our amazing QB spells his name Erik. :)

I was a little relieved that we got back into the game, but at that point it really didn't matter what Ainge did until we figured out a way to slow down UGA's offense. They were absolutely killing us on the ground and kept converting 3rd downs. I just kept telling myself that eventually things were going to even out.

I guess I was, I felt a little better knowing that the first TD drive wasn't a fluke and that Ainge really did have control of the game. Being down 10 at halftime is nothing if your offense is moving the ball. But I was worried about the defense, I said in the game thread that the win/loss lies with them.

So I thought we had a shot, but I never thought the Vols would score 27 points in the 4th quarter and put up 51 points. With that kind of offense, you don't need much of a defense.

When we scored before the half I thought about the '91 Notre Dame game.

Double score and double score (as in double digits)...as Johnny Majors put it...24 to 14 looks way better than 24 to 7...not to mention the momentum.

I wasn't calm, but I was somewhat relieved. I felt confident we could score on them, but I didn't know how we were going to beat them if we kept trading scores and we were already behind. As it turns out our defense stepped up big in the second half.

I was pretty nervous when we were down 24-7 late in the 2nd and then I just kept saying "LSU 05". I was sitting in my favorite cheer and then after UGA scored I stood up...we drove down the field for the TD and I didn't sit back down until the game was over and it turned out pretty well. Guess I'll have to stand for every game now:rock:

I felt a lot better about things at 24-14.

Once it was 24-7, I was calling for Chavis' head. I still haven't gotten over/recovered from the 22 or so 3rd and 10+ yard conversions Georgia seemed to make?!

Me and my friends were talking before we scored and said that if we can get get seven points before the half we would only be down ten instead of seventeen. We were calm and nervous at the same time.

I was out at a local pub were everyone was watching Duke/Bama. I was calm and pretty confident even when it was 24-7. My friends asked me about the game and I just said, those UGA fans are going to be crying when we come back and win this!

It made me think back to the FL game. We did "okay" in the first part and then fell apart in the second half. I thought the past games gave us some maturity and made us more determined to not let that happen again. I really wasn't nervous, I felt confident that we would rally back in the second half, especially after we scored right at the end of the 1st half. Georgia seemed flat after they got the early lead(minus the TWO returns for touchdowns- I ain't even going there). Great win for TN!

I know what you mean. Before I was always nervous when Erik let loose on every pass. Now, after a number of games, I am excited to see where he puts the ball and how many yards he gets on each completion. What a difference from last year!

GO VOLS! BEAT BAMA!

Well, we had about 15-20 people over. Mood wasn't bad at halftime - not necessarily confident, but hopeful that all was not lost. Things got crazy with Stewart's pick and just escalated from there. A neighbor from across the street had gone home at halftime (bad back!), but came back sometime in the 2nd half to tell us that he could hear us screaming inside his house (and neither of us had windows open)! Just a great night - the kind that makes me LOVE college football in general and the Vols in particular!

I basiclly cant sit during a game. I'm standing the whole time "except for commericals". My wife thinks I'm silly, she gets pretty aggravated at me, she just doesnt understand the fellings that are raging in my innards. Needless to say I get very-very emotional.

<------is the same way. If I'm doing something like driking a coke and we do something bad, I'll not drink a coke for the rest of the game. I have to stand during the whole game...can't stand to sit.

but I have OCD too so that might explain it:birgits_giggle:

Yeah, I get pretty emotional too. Guess it's time for a new ceiling fan for me! Didn't know I could jump that high!! Usually have to use a chair to dust, had no problem hitting it last night with me fist as I was jumping out of my chair. Actually, last night was a good aerobic workout.

I must say that at 24-7, I really began wondering how we were going to do it. But honestly, I don't know why - but I felt like we were going to win this thing even then...and I was darn confused as to how we were going to do it. After that touchdown drive it became more clear. And with Stewart's interception...I knew it. My wife was about to go nuts during the game...I couldn't believe how calm I was though. Now..I compare that to the Florida game, AT HOME, UP 10 and I was freaking out...I felt like Florida was getting ready to go to town on us and they did.

Of course...that doesn't always work. I was scared to death during the Air Force game and we ended up pulling that one out!

:)

I wasnt too concerned. Take away 3 plays (2 returns and 1 most fortunate catch behind the defender) and they only score 12pts, UGA is just not that good.

I was calm before we scored the TD. I just knew the offense was getting ready to light things up from the way they moved to begin with.

I got more pissed off from reading the official thread and all the negavols in it going off than I was at the team. Thank god they departed the thread, it was way more enjoyable the rest of the game. :dance2:

I was only calm when it was 44-33 and then the last touchdown just was icing on the cake! We have a team to be proud of this year! Everyone in FL is talking about Tebow and how wonderful he is. He is a fine young man who is doing a great job of what he is being asked to do. BUT ERICK AINGE is doing a super job so far. Congrats on the awards so far- keep up the great work! GO VOLS!!!:)
