How many sacks should be the bar against austin peay?

I think the record for a season at Tennessee is something like 50, set in the early 2000s. Over a 12 game schedule, that works out to 4.2 per game. That year, we probably averaged more against bad teams (if I had to guess), but I doubt we piled up 10 in any one game. We also had much better DL and LB talent back then.

All this considered, I'd think 4+ would be a solid afternoon against AP. Getting to about 25 sacks or more on the year in total would be solid work as well, given the talent we have and the schedule we're playing.

If you are setting an over/under for us to bet on, you need to pick a half-number. I'd set the initial over/under at 3.5 and see who votes where. A poll with public voting would be useful. :)

12 because you guys have no idea how hungry this team is nor how hurt that they are labeled the worst defense in Tennessee history. They will come out like rabid dogs ganging up on a trapped cottontail. This defense is genuinely butt hurt and mad to boot. By the mid 2nd quarter Austin will Peay in their pants.

i will say 3 because i dont think we will see a blitz all day and im also not sure what kind of offense AP runs or how much they even throw

You are correct. The single-season record is exactly 50, set in 2000. The single-game record is 13, set against Wyoming in 1999.

people think i am nuts but we have the chance to get 51 sacks this season if the injuriy bug will spare us... mccullers alone will make it easier to get sacks.

I don't know about the 51 sacks record, but I would be tickled to death if we could average 3-3.5 per game. I hope for more but this would be a nice increase from the past few years.

Not saying u r nuts but I don't see how we will come anywhere close to that. The game has changed so much since 2000. Offenses are geared toward faster paces and getting the ball out of the qb's hand faster which has in turn lead to a decrease in sacks across the nation, not just UT.

im sure we will be running the most vanilla defense possible that game...i doubt we bring many blitzes seeing as how our front 4 should be able to push around that o-line id expect 4 maybe 5 tops
