I have heard different numbers on how many recruits UT can sign this year under NCAA rules. I know there are some variables, but I don't know what they are. Can anyone out there educate me?

4 and 5 STARS= Championships.:dance2:

Doesn't really matter how many stars if they aren't on the team does it?

The reason we are in our current situation is due to the inability to keep guys on the team through their Senior year.

Montori Hughes was a 2* in 2008 according to Rivals - pretty sure he has already contributed more in 1.5 seasons than anyone listed below.

2007
5* Chris Donald
5* Brent Vinson
4* BJ Coleman
4* Lennon Creer
4* Donald Langley
4* Rolando Melancon
4* Ahmad Paige
4* Darris Sawtelle
3* William Brimfield
3* Todd Campbell
3* Josh Hawkins
3* Tyler Maples
3* Dennis Rogan
3* Rufus Williams

2008
4* EJ Abrams Ward
4* Aaron Douglas
3* Preston Bailey

2009
5* Bryce Brown
4* Nukeese Richardson
4* James Green
4* Darren Myles
3* Mike Edwards

Yes, but you have to consider we could have some players transfer & quit in the offseason it happens at every program.

No surprise if one or two of the current commitments doesn't hold either. I am gathering we probably still have ten or eleven slots or to fill.

I don't think so. IIRC, we are well more than 10 scholarships below 85. We only took 65 to LSU. I think we're close to 15 below what we can have.

We have 73 on scholarship, we took 65 to LSU because you have to remember about the players injured ( Walls, Martin, Oliver, ect..)

As I understand it, the yearly limit doesn't let us backfill all of the scholarships we are down in just one year.

Right, so we'll still be short. It will take years, plus smart redshirting admin decisions, plus low #'ed graduating classes, plus maybe some 5th yr &/or grad school Sr's to get near 85.

If any of the above happen at the end of this year going towards next year (& I haven't checked to see if they will), then that will fill some scholarship spots & depth issues, cause we sure can't hand out 35 scholarships to Frosh this year.

Shear numbers isn't everything. Quality matters too.Ten quality (dare I day four and five star) players are what we need to close out this signing class... then maybe we can talk about competing for championships in 2012 and 2013.

Right. & we aren't out of the woods on either. We need continued quality, & a steady increase in #'s.

Curious..... how'd Rogan make this list? He contributed every year he was here.
