How many spots left?

So how many scholarship spots are left with this current upcoming football class?
Technically 6 (Total of 28 with, but only allowed to take 25 on campus). But there will be decommitments and academic issues, so it's not basic math or anything.

... plus 2 we can backcount which means we can sign a total of 30.

That is good enough for me, but what is the story on a verbal commit that doesn't qualify? Do we decommit them or is the ball in their court? Thanks.

The coaches will have a pretty good idea on who is going to qualify and who will not by the time Signing Day comes around. I would expect them to either drop those guys or they will sign and place them. That, combined with the fact that we have so many interested players may push the number higher than 27, but that's the target I would say. 27 gives you a little wiggle room for next year, but if a talented player like Corey Lemonier wants to commit, they will not turn him away.

Thanks Sab. On EEs, when they give a verbal commitment, I am trying to figure out if we just know like you described above or do we decommit the guy off or wait for a DT (this year's example) to be real and come to the decision themselves. This is where I may be wrong too, but don't we accept their commitment? Great info. Maybe a blog topic.

don't worry about numbers...coaches will find a way to make the numbers work...you would also have to figure thier will be a couple of daprtues from the current team with players transferring out...
