How many still think we can't beat Mizzou

Ok let me get this straight, Missouri loses to USCe. GA beats FL, loses to Auburn, FL beats USCe, Missouri loses to the Vols, Texas A&M and or Ole Miss. Vols win out. Would be a 5 way tie for first place in eastern division. Interesting.

Mizzou will let you throw on em. That's for sure.

IF you can give your QB time. One of the reasons I think we have a shot is that our offensive line is capable of pass blocking really well, even if they haven't always shown it at times. The OL really needs to step up next week. Find Sam and put him on his ass.

I also think, from my admittedly amateur observation, that Mauk seems to be in love with the deep ball. Take that away and see if he has the patience to work the ball down field 5 yards at a time. Easier said than done maybe, but getting him to force it into coverage and winning the turnover battle would go a long way towards beating them.

Yeah keep using that transitive property. It usually works so well.

They aren't Alabama, but don't kid yourself; some are acting like it's a definite W and that's just plain stupid.

are you even a vol fan? obviously not. even without the orange colored glasses you can see that carolina, a good team, who THE VOLS BEAT AND HANDLED ALMOST THE ENTIRE GAME, just beat them by using their QB we faced almost the entire game.

transitive property does not apply but to think mizzou is as good as advertised after today is laughable.

I agree. SC is not a good passing team at all but they had a field day throwing. Esp in the screen game. Mauk is very Tyler Bray-esque in that he doesn't check down very well. Loves the deep ball.

I would've liked our odds more before today. After watching us struggle and screw up today, every team on our schedule thinks we are 100% beatable... especially Mizzou.

Everyones beatable.

Except Bama until someone does it. It's bama above the rest of the SEC right now and the rest beating each other up. It's fun.

honestly if mizzou wins next week its because dooley came back to coach.

...which saban would LOVE. all that CBJ building on dooley's "hard work" ...can't believe there aren't more threads about that.

No one left on UT's schedule would do much better vs Bama than UT did. If MU takes UT lightly because Bama dominated the Vols... they'll beat themselves.

Yes, everyone's beatable. It depends which UT shows up to play... or not play. We're inconsistent and seldom clutch. That won't work out well against Mizzou or Auburn, both of whom are playing at a higher level.

We have a chance. Not very high but we have a chance. But for the love of God if we have around 40 seconds and a timeout left let's not let the clock go to 0 when we can attempt a field goal

It IS fun :). The phrase "any given saturday" certainly applies to the SEC this year. With the noted exception of the damn Tide.

Mizzou didn't play at a higher level today. USCe spotted them three qtrs then put Shaw in and beat them PASSING. They are a good team that has played a weak schedule... including catching UF and UGA when they were beaten to death.

I have never been very comfortable about the Auburn game. Malzahn inherited a pretty good roster. Even at home, that one could be rough.

Let 'em think it. Hopefully they take us lightly. Although if I just gave up a 17 point lead in the 4th quarter I would be a little careful with overconfidence.

I have to disagree with you here. I believe Mizzou and Auburn would look better than we did today-- I doubt they would win or even keep it within a score, but they could probably hang in and give them a game. We were never competitive and were sloppy from the opening kickoff. UK played Bama just as "tough" as we did.

Yep
Spotted them 17 pts, 3 qtrs, and some out of character turnovers. 1 on the 2 yard line. Yet they still blew it. Got beat by a gritty qb that led the charge passing of all things lol. The vols will be right in the game.

Our boys need to find a way to get as motivated on the road as they do in Neyland.

Can we beam 100,000 people and a DJ to Columbia, Missouri? That seems about the only way to do so.

They can all just stand in the parking lot. That stadium is small enough; they'll be heard.

I agree that Mizzou has been overhyped. Personally, I think USCe is the better team. I don't think we're as far along as either one of them. I had hoped we would be, but today convinced me that we're further away than I had hoped-- not because we lost big, but because we just couldn't compete.

I thought we had a real shot against Auburn. Perhaps we still do, but they have a lot of talent that Malzahn has really developed. We're so inconsistent, it's hard to gauge what we're capable of. Dobbs might elevate the team. Worley had issues, but a lot of it's on the young WRs, who have way too many drops and blown routes.

Is it my imagination or was there a lot of excitement and energy on the sidelines when Dobbs was getting ready to go in? There seemed to be a lot of players surrounding him and they looked to be fired up.
