I say 3 more years. He sort of has an excuse right now his recurits are just freshman. If he doesnt turn things around by the time they are seniors he will probably be gone.

He will be there until a better paying job is offered to him. He'll get better next year and the next. Probably be in the hunt for the SEC title by 2009. But if somebody offers him more money you KNOW he's saying "I am not leaving the University of Alabama" while his family is home packing.

Living amongst the Bammers, I've unfortunately gained some insight into their thinking (I use that word lightly).

The hiring of Saban convinced Tiders that they would soon return to their rightful place.

Reality has not been matched with expectations and thus has to be rationalized.

Conclusion? Nothing wrong with Saban - it is the players that are the problem. They are quitters, undisciplined, no heart, etc. (Last year, the players were fine but Shula was the problem)

Next year, the Tide will win 9 or 10 games and all will be right until Year 3 when they win 7 games and you will suddenly hear:

Saban doesn't do (fill in blank) like the Bear.

Seeing the writing on the wall, Saban will bolt.

I'd say 3 years until he gets fired or is forced out if he doesn't succeed. Although, if they don't either win the West or beat Auburn and go to a New Year's Day bowl, I could see the fans turning on Saint Nick after next year.
