Obviously, the Second Amendment will be a huge issue for a lot of people, but outside of that, what can we do here that we can't do anywhere else? How many other countries tax income that you earn outside of their country? How many countries have legalized marijuana or prostitution? How many more countries have similar laws that we have on the books, but their enforcement is a lot less or their penalties for violating them a lot less? How hard is it for a person to start a small business here compared to someone in other countries? How much more redtape and regulations do we have here vs some other countries? How much more in taxes do we pay here vs some other countries?

I consider "desire to immigrate" an important indicator. There's got to be something that inspires foreigners to want to move here.

We are pretty high on the freedom of speech scale. Our neighbors to the north have more strict "hate" and "discriminatory" rules.

I would imagine compared to Euro countries we have more vehicle freedom.

Also the people in the UK getting sent to jail for racial slurs on Twitter. That wouldn't happen here.

I'm not so sure we aren't trending downward in 1st Amendment rights, either. It would not surprise me at all to find in the next decade we have peopled jailed for speech hate crimes.

I agree, we are heading in that direction. It's getting to the point where it will be illegal to offend anyone.

Nonsense.

Speech that threatens violence has never been protected and should never be protected. Any criticism, be it political or otherwise, that one person wishes to make towards another can be leveled without a threat attached to it, even if just for effect.

Mr. Nugget about to find that out. He'll either back down as the degenerate loud mouth he is, or hope he likes prison.

then why hasn't Eric Holder indicted the New Black Panther Party for their bounty on George Zimmerman?

I have to dissagree with you on that. I do think I could go out and threaten violence agianst terrorists all day every day and be protected....

But enough of shooting holes in your "absolutes" (way too easy). Just look at the Bullying issue, there are attempts underway to prosecute people for bullying.

Not that I'm for bullys but there is razor thin line, physical contact, hitting ext go get 'em, but just what is bullying speach?
