He's a physical freak. I don't see any reason not to take a flier with a late pick for a guy like that.

$100,000 fliers aren't cheap. Surprised the scout thought he even had a hit tool. Had 17 strikeouts in the one year he played HS baseball compared to 18 hits.

Oh well, at least he gets a 100K and can tell everyone he played professional baseball. Not sure if he wants to admit that though.

About fell over when I saw that his manager and apologist is George Lombard, who is Exhibit A on why taking toolsy, athletic guys and trying to turn them into baseball players is a waste of time.

The fact that Lombard has a job in baseball is the most incredible thing I've read all week.

I wonder if teams will ever learn that these athletes need at least a bit of baseball talent before drafting them so highly. Wendall Fairly, Donovan Tate, Tim Beckham, on and on, millions and millions of dollars wasted. I understand it's tempting but dang, figure it out.

It's incredible the Rays wasted that #1 pick on Tim Beckham when they could have had Posey if they weren't so cheap.
