I've been watching football ALL day, no joke. It's been glorious watching our Vols dominate, seeing Georgia lose, and watching 3rd and Chavis tonight!

What did today show us? It showed us that Tennessee is not afraid to play our freshmen! No program can say that TEN true freshmen played significant minutes and had an impact in a win today, except for the Tennessee Volunteers!

Did Marlon Brown even make the trip to Stillwater, Oklahoma? Hopefully Granny is still in good health by the time her precious Marlon sniffs the field. :eek:lol:
(Best wishes to granny in all seriousness..)

How should, and how will recruits view this? Well, they should see this as a great opportunity for themselves to enter a great, tradition-rich SEC program, and get the CHANCE to immediately make an impact. I just couldn't understand any competitive person wanting to go to a program where the only guarantee is sitting the bench until they are juniors.

Kiffin has stayed true to his word, and if you read comments from David Oku, Marsalis Teague, and Bryce Brown about how today completely justified their college choice, then it is obvious that this is a great place for current and future recruits to come in and make an impact:

David Oku: 8 rushes 42 yds 2 TD
"It was amazing. I've been through a Vol Walk before , but being in it is a totally different thing. Emotions were running high. I really liked it, it was great." "I felt like a kid in a candy store. I liked everything about it. The whole day was great."

Marsalis Teague: 6 rec 86 yds 1 TD
"Running through the 'T' was great, I was just looking around staring at everything." "We got off the bus for the Vol Walk and I was like 'Man this is a dream come true now.'"

Bryce Brown: 11 rushes 104 yds 1 TD
"I really can't describe how it felt." "It was a tremendous atmosphere. The Vol Walk was amazing. I have never seen anything like it. I truly believe in my heart that this is the best place to play college football and I made the right decision."

I'd expect recruiting to get even better, regardless of how we play... mainly because of the opportunity that is hard to find at a great program other than ours. Sorry this turned out so long!

Today certainly didn't hurt, but the real show is next week against UCLA...national TV, a legit 'name' opponent and the overall intensity of the fans and team should be that much higher next week and there will be a lot of recruits there. If we come out and look very good and dominate UCLA, that should pretty much all a lot of these kids will need to see. A solid showing against Florida will be icing on the cake. If this O keeps putting up good numbers we may end up with better TV slots as well as the year progresses.

Kiffin appears to be on course:
1. Hire top staff...check
2. Rejuvenate fan excitement and create some national publicity...check, check
3. Close 2009 recruiting strong...check, top 10
4. Play lots of Freshman...check, check, check...
5. Put a much improved product on the field...CHECK

Now we need to grab a win or two that's not expected. It seems to be accepted truth by all the Georgia, Bama and Spurrier homers in the press that Tennessee is a door mat this year. Georgia and USCe don't look good and Bama clearly has growing pains on the O-line and QB.

What's the latest on Bray? Were there any other big name recruits at the WKU game? Do we know which prospects will for sure be at the UCLA game?

I think I saw in his thread that he is leaving today but his parents are staying til tuesday. Don't know how accurate that is, seems to be alot of stretching going on over there.

Good point! I watched the GA game & I didn't see him play either. I was also wondering what he & Granny will be thinking when they find out we played ten freshmen! :)

Seriously though, did Marlon Brown play? I wonder if he saw what Teague, Nuke and B. Brown did and had any second thoughts?

The recruits UT lost out on didn't fair so well...

Marlon Brown - did he even play? He didn't have a catch. Ouch!
Orson Charles - had a decent day - 2 catch for 46 yards.
Giles - see above.
Jeffrey played and had a couple catches, but that's about it.
Je'Ron Stokes - didn't have a catch.
Trent Richardson - 3 carries for 10 yards.

Wow, I didn't even know that. Well, there are plenty of very nice houses in Knoxville that are good deals right now.

If that is indeed true then I guess there other possible explanations, but it sure sounds like that could be for house-hunting purposes. Why else would their son return before them?
