That we are the reason for a lot of complaining in the west, and talks about realignment? The beyotching from LSU and Auburn fans seems to be nonstop, and a lot of it is about how Bama "gets" to play UT every year while they face Fla and UGA. Obviously many of these idiots fail to realize that college football is cyclical, but in all honesty, could complaints and talks of realignment be associated with our recent downfall as a football program, and if so, to what extent?

Probably. When UT starts to rise again then we'll have the same complaint. We have to play Bama while UGA/UF get lesser opponents.

Will never here me complain about this game. The biggest thing about this rivalry to me is the amount of "fans" they have in our state

I think most knowledgeable college football fans understand we are in a downturn and usually will be in the top 3-4 of the East.

LSU is probably getting the worst deal and has been the most vocal. Based on my buddies who are LSU fans, they don't consider Florida a rival and would prefer to be scheduling sexy non-conference games.

Auburn/Alabama/Tennessee/Georgia are all fans of the system it seems and I think they did a good job matching up the other teams based on the traditional power of their football program and where their current momentum is.

There certainly needs to be an improvement in scheduling quality concerning SEC teams, but if someone is arguing that Bama and UT should stop playing each other that person loses all credibility.

No. You have the same complaint though.

no, i don't.

i don't complain about georgia's schedule. i don't complain about anyone's schedule inside the sec.

you should know that the first joke i make when people complain about georgia's schedule is.....

maybe if tennessee and florida didn't suck, georgia's schedule wouldn't look so easy.

This.

I've been seeing a lot of posters saying that Bama's schedule is weak. No one was saying that when Bama sucked, and our OOC scheduling was much softer back then.

this year is a classic example. the two opponents from the east are tennessee and florida.

is it alabama's fault that tennessee and florida are coming off of losing seasons?

generally speaking, if you beat your divisional opponents, you will go to atlanta. it's that simple. and no one escapes the games inside the division.

i don't know if anyone ever went undefeated inside the division and lost the division.

2011 South Carolina is the only time it's ever happened. They went unbeaten in the East, but lost to Arkansas and Auburn. UGA's only conference loss was to USCe. Obviously, that's not going to be a common scenario.

I think we may be relying on the "everything is cyclical" argument too much. While that has been true, I honestly think that over the past decade fundamental changes have occurred with NCAAF that are going to make it less likely that these huge cycle-swings occur. Certain schools were hot at the right time, that coincided with BCS money and other changes which resulted in advantages to their programs.
Not saying it can't be done, but the simple rise and fall of recruiting classes aren't going to move the needle as much as it has historically.
