Sad days on Rocky Top can finally end. If UT will implement my plan,we will be whipping Bama in no time. Here we go: #1Fire Dooley Asap. #2 If we can`t hire Gruden or another HUGE name coach, then we need a black coach. If not Strong,we need a young, charismatic black coach. He doesn`t have to be a proven winner, just a great recruiter. We then hire an all-star assistant staff that can coach&are proven winners. We should have$ to do that from hiring a "cheap" coach. The OC&DC will need to be excellent& experienced to help our young coach develop. This would bring a lot of kids to UT. Recruiting is the most crucial aspect of college football, and we all know the majority of players are black. Don`t you think a 30yr old, black coach would be able to relate to recruiting prospects better than a 60yr old white? We would be a recruiting powerhouse! #3 We need to generate even more excitement by wearing different uniforms over the next yr or 2 in marquee games. Black kids love black uniforms&will play harder in them(Scar09). I`d like to see a camoflauge uni personally. This is just temporary to create excitement, publicity, and recruit interest. I love our unis, but if we have to wear pink a few games to get back on top, then wear pink!.#5 All our fans need to be at O&W game to show that we love our Vols as much as them tree-slaying Alabamians love their teams. I can`t drive,or I`d be at every O&W game. It`s the only game I could afford! So what does VolNation think? We`d be guaranteed a top5 recruiting class. We would be much better coached-even if the HC was a moron, the coordinators would make up 4 it. And we would be the next Oregon by having different, appealing uniforms. We all know the only reason Oregon`s been so successful recruiting is their endless uni combos. Black kids love cool unis. So,there u have it. We do this,we`ll be in the first playoff!!! I am always going to support UT,but I want Ws ASAFP. What`s yall`s take?

Read first paragraph to get a gist of what you were posting about.

1.) never hire a coach because of his color.

2.). I love Strong as a potential hire.

3.). You don't have to be black to make a mark in places like memphis, Miami etc, although Strong could exploit that factor.

4.). If you win, or have a model plan in place to present to recruits, and their family,
you Can pull recruits in to play here from farm grown men in wisconsin, to urban kids in LA.

5.). You build it they will come. We have everything here to make a PROVEN coach here have an immediate impact. Great facilities, great fan support, huge stadium, and ungodly recruiting budget.

All it takes is one mega hire, and the Vols are up and running again. The tradition can be salvaged. It's up to the AD, and Cheek to see that it happens. Hope it happens

You get what you pay for.

Surely the men pulling the strings understand this. It's now, or I am afraid will be never.

I pretty much second all you're saying, and I don't think everyone realizes how well Strong recruits in one of the hardest places to recruit, Florida. He gets great recruits to come to Louisville Kentucky of all places from Florida. Other than his great recruiting he is a great coach. I hope for Gruden, but Strong would be a coach that I would not regret and we would probably have him for the next 15-20 years like Fulmer, but with the probability for more national championships :)

Strong would be great. He knows the SEC, and what it takes to win here. All the pipe dreams aside, I hope we get him.

Agreed. He has a pipeline in Miami. Bridgewater (who I think is garbage) was a 5 star. If he can do that there, imagine what he can do here. That WR that was a package deal with TB, isn't a scrub either. I really want Strong to UT

Strong is my second choice (I kinda laughed at that 'cause nothing I say matters but alas this is what I want). Gruden would be first just because he would bring the most publicity and the most recruits immediately. I think with him going to the coaching clinics for college style play etc makes me feel more comfortable with him being the head coach. I would be ecstatic with either or and would go to as many games as possible (more like as many as i could afford) because they both would bring a lot of excitement.

In order to win NC we must have patients with our current staff, if you think for one second firing Dooley will move this program forward you are nuts, he has a team to win now, he just needs patient fans that understand what his long term plan is. He has got the thugs out has grads comming up which will help in recruiting , parents love high grad status more than wins.his offense is now jr. Status and it. Is one of the best in the nation, his defense is still soph and freshman, so 3 years from now we could be in the driver seat but we must stay the course!

Can you honestly not see that Dooley can't win? It's plain as day brother. In 3 years he hasn't beaten a single team that was favored over us, but he's managed to lose against inferior competition. Don't you think at least once, just once, in 3 years he could have come back from a halftime deficit to pull out a win? Just once he could have beaten a ranked opponent, or simply an opponent favored by a couple of points? I'm honestly shocked at how little he has managed to accomplish. It's truly astounding when you really think about it.

I didn`t realize advocating for a black coach at UT and being honest about racial issues would get a response like an excerpt from "Mein Kampf".The SEC is loaded with excellent white coaches. A black coach would set us apart(I know Sumlin&Franklin r black so dont dog me 4 that)from other elite, traditional SEC powerhouses. The college football landscape has changed dramatically and UT must catch up. We have nothing new or exciting in 14yrs,besides the LaneTrain. Florida,Bama,&LSU are so far ahead of us and our in-state talent is so poor, that we MUST make drastic, exciting changes. If we get Gruden or anyone but Dools,I`ll be happy. If people would honestly appraise the situation and read my post without assuming I scream Sieg Heil, they may see a few merits in it. I`m out. Delete it or whatever. I apologize if anyone was offended and won`t post again. Go Vols!

Can you name 5 black coaches who have had success in div 1 football in the past 10 years? Just because they are black doesn't mean they will recruit or coach well.

Im not opposed to hiring any race of Coach. Strong is my choice behing Gruden and Del Rio and I think he would recruit great here and win alot of games. But color of a Coach doesnt matter. Look at the top teams in america. Ala, Oregon, KState, NG, GA, LSU. All white Coach's, race means nothing to these players. They will have black and white assistant Coach's.

good lord. the Dooley defense posts just keeping getting dumber. "Parents love high grad status more than wins"? Is that why Dooley is currently putting together the lowest ranked recruiting class we've had in over a decade? Or is that all part of his master plan? His master plan that, according to you, will take 3 more years to implement. If his plan was to come here and lose for 5 years, and then finally win in year 6, then clearly he doesn't understand anything about how college football works.

If Dooley goes, team goes back 3-4 years...most juniors will test the NFL market rather than learn a new system with a new coach...

Not if the right coach comes in. The JR's will test the market regardless. Bray, Hunter and Patterson really need to stay. None of those 3 are ready for the NFL. But who knows what they do. Couch, McCullers and Sentimore are NFL ready either. Maybe a cpl of the oline guys are but I dont know. Sounds like a big time coach will be brought in and they alll stay and hopefully get better developed and have successful SR yrs and get turned into potential 1st Rounders. The offensive guys definitely can be 1st rounders with the right coach and Bray in particular, stay focused and out of trouble. But I gotta say I am ready to see Peterman play.

Yeah... hire an all-star assistant staff to win in 3 years, because if they're that good they will be coaching elsewhere in 2.
