I Believe We Will Have Another Nc In The Next 4 Years If We Can Keep This Coaching Staff Especially These Three. What Do Yall Think And How Likely Is This To Happen?

i think it is more likely if we keep them together rather than breaking them up...but that doesn't mean it WILL happen...we still have a long way to go...but i think it's going in the right direction.

What have you seen that says another NC in 4 years. A NC is difficult to win, when you are really good, ask Auburn. What do you see about us that makes you think this?

I Believe We Can Put It Together Because They Are Such Good Recruiters, Great Coaches But I Believe The Secondary Needs To Have More Killer Instinct

i think you can look at this team and see it's pointed in the right direction, they are playing with a lot more confidence, and that they play hard...

doesn't mean they WILL win an NT in the next four years, but they could be in the mix, even as early as 07....

but on the same token, you look at Auburn, LSU, Florida, Georgia...they aren't going backwards, so i have a feeling that those teams, as well as TN, will have a lot to say about who wins the league over the next 4 years...none of them may win a NT, but i think all of them can be really really good over that time span.

I do not believe that the Vols we will win a NC regardless of the keeping the current coaching staff. That dont have the horses!!!!

Well since you asked, UT has a DC who cannot seem to come up with any scheme to stop the spread option which means the Vols should not expect to beat UF any time in the near future. I also imagine we will see several more SEC teams adopt that style offense. On the other side of the ball we have a HC who is committed to smashmouth football even though UT does not have the size and strength to pound it down the throats of decent SEC defenses. In the meantime, at least two division rivals are regularly outrecruiting the Vols which means you can't expect to just out muscle the competition. Everyone knows how I feel about CPF so it probably doesn't bear repeating now but IMHO this team desperately needs a big infusion of creativity and I just don't see that coming from the current regime. That said, I think Cut is doing his best to make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

I don't think Chavis' scheme is the problem. I think he is really lacking talent on the DL. This does not bode well for the rest of this year. This DL is completely unspectacular.

your opinion on CPF not withstanding, i do agree with you about Florida...i have a feeling i'm really going hate Tim Tebow....that offense will be very difficult to defend if they have the right personnel on the feild. And by all accounts, it starts with the qb, and Tebow looks to be that guy...

and silk purse from sow's ear? c'mon...it's not that bad is it? :p

The sow's ear was 2005 offense vs. what I think he is trying to do this year.

ok, that makes sense...

and i'd say so far so good...i can't believe we'll be this inept at running the ball all season.

we get two weeks to work on it and bring our a game to UGA...another good defense...quinten moses is a beast, and should be salivating at the chance to get up in front of our o line right now....

I think that might be a little harsh. We held them to 320 total yards with a key starter missing and another--probably our best player on D--flying with only one wing and an offense that kept our defense on the field 12 minutes longer than theirs. Our defensive "scheme" was not the problem.

As far as keeping the staff together, I would be very, very surprised if Cut doesn't wind up with a head coaching job within the next 2 years. The key, in my opinion, will be replacing him with a coach that has top-level ability.

We lose a game and now the "haters" are back in force. We got out played by a very good team. I am very much surprised by the defensive game plan that Chief had. But I don't think we suck or are a terrible football team. We got beat. We will re-group and get ready for the rest of the season. How many had us winning out before the season started? I would guess that most had us losing 2-3 games. Well, we've lost one.

Oh you are so correct. Anyone who thinks there is any kind of problems with the team is a blatant hater and probably just a Bammer in disguise come to stir up trouble and pick at scabs. Give me a break! This team is doing better than I thought they would at this point and I hope they keep it up. UF didlook like the better team on Sat. and the Vols did a good job to hang onto the lead for as long as they did. My response concerns the future. IMO it's like we are fighting WWII and our general is R.E. Lee while UGA, UF and AU have Patton, Tojo and Rommel. I do think Cutcliffe is capable of changing with the times but it's going to require his boss letting go of the smashmouth style to make it happen and I do not see CPF making that change.

I didn't realize that Tuberville was a Nazi.

UHHHHHHHH, did you watch the AU LSU game? Talk about smash mouth football. Look man, we threw 33 times and ran 23! That is not smash mouth football!
They had the ball 35 minutes and we had it 24! That is not smash mouth football!

i understand what you are saying hillbilllly...and to some degree i agree with you...but i think the future is a little brighter now.

now as to smash mouth football...i have no problem with the philosphy, so long as you have the personnel to execute it. currenlty we don't have the O line needed to run it down anyone's throat.

One thing has never changed about football..if you run the ball, and stop the run, you will win more than lose. Now how you run the ball, is another question. whether you line up in double tight end, two receiver i formation or spread option reading the defensive ends...the goal is the same...control the ball, win T.O.P. and wear down the defense.

The word jake is balance. You cannot be one dimensional in big time football. Take for instance Arkansas. They have led the SEC in rushing for several years and what has their record been? If you can throw and run you keep a defense off balance and you win more than you lose. As far as smash mouth football goes, We are far from playing that kind of game Saturday night against UF.

We were much more finesse than smash mouth against the gators.

That is putting it kindly. I would almost say our O-line play was borderline feminine.

Im not in any hurry to play UGA or LSU I can tell you that much. UF was by far the better team, we can thank the home field for the close score.
