Fond memories from his HS days to his 4TDs againts ND! Had pro potential but he couldn't stay out of trouble served a few stretches in prison last I heard he was working construction around Knoxville. But thats been awhile ago! Another complete waste of talent. Had Battle stayed around he woulda been up for the Hiesman!

I actually saw that game with my dad.Simpson ran like a horse over ND defenders.I remember a ND fan raising a white flag up near the end of the game.Seems as though he was hurt some during the season. :biggrin2:

Yeah he would have been UT's first 1,000 yard back! He had 800 plus.

It's amazing that it took until Johnnie Jones for us to have a 1,000 yard back.

Didn't Hat's buddy John Mark Hancock come to our collective consciousness in connection with Hubert Simpson?

Hubert has been known to shovel snow in July, if you get my drift.

I talked to a girl that went to school when Hubert did and she said he use to drive a nice caddy around campus. :dunno:

I can just hear John Ward saying "Touchdown Johnnie Jones"! Who was the qb then?

Hubert showed up for a game of tackle football we were playing down on the Boulevard. Needless to say the team that got him was happy and the team that didn't needed a few days to recover!

You're welcome. I just ordered the SugarVols dvd the other day myself. I already have it on vhs, but I've heard there are several hours worth of stuff on the dvd that aren't on the video tape.

One last remark about Hubert, my cousin was his HS coach and to this very day says that he was a better LB than RB. For those of you that saw him play you know that is saying alot! He could hit! Remember when Hershell ran over Bates? When asked about the hit, Bates stated that it was nothing compared to being hit by Simson in practice!
