...the other thread was hijacked by our monthly evolution debate.

I'm watching him on CNN right now, I like what I hear. Disagree with him on some social issues, but he is well spoken, seems intelligent, and says all the right things fiscally and economically IMO. So far, I see him as somebody I could get behind.

I agree. I'm just saying, hes not going to win the gop nomination. Would be much stronger in the general election

So which of the front-running, electable kooks should he vote in the primary for? It's people like you that make him un-electable. If people would stop saying that, then maybe he'd have a chance.

I'd go for Huntsman.

Actually, I'd take any of the R contenders with the exception of Bachmann at this point over Barry.

Watch out, you just said you'd vote for Romney. That's not popular around these parts.

I'm actually pulling for Romney because he's the most electable in the general.

Anything to get Obama out.

Doesn't matter. Won't get elected

So, will you vote for in the primary... or will you just assume defeat and vote for one of the establishment candidates?

You can't ask for real change if you aren't even willing to vote for people because you are afraid they might lose...

Out of all the R candidates right now, all being equal in terms of electability, who would you vote for?

Personally, I couldn't vote for Romney, he strikes me as too much of a greasy car salesman.

I was really impressed with Huntsman tonight. I didn't know much about him, would love to see him in a debate.

In the Iowa debate he came off like a wishy-washy empty suit. Reminded me of Charlie Crist.

Was just gonna start a thread on this.. he really sounds like he knows what he's talking about. Can't argue with his record (#1 job creator), looks the part, and actually sounds intelligent unlike many republican canidates. I wouldn't mind one bit if this guy got elected, because he is about one million times better than any other republican out there atm.

I liked pretty much everything Huntsman said tonight. I'm sure we differ on some issues, but he is the closest to matching my political philosophy that I have seen in a presidential election, based on what I know as of now.

I don't vote for candidates based on whether or not I think they're going to win.

I'm just stating the facts

Yes, if I were to quit saying that then huntsman would be at the top of the polls! By the way, where is huntsman in the polls?

I like Huntsman. I could definitely vote for him. He would appeal to independents much more than even Romney, imo. Romney's bulldozing of his beach house in California to increase the size by 4 times could quite possibly bite him. Nothing wrong with what he is doing, I just don't think it will play well with some people who are struggling. There's something about him outside his politics that concerns me. I haven't quite figured it out yet, but something don't jive with me. Anyone else feel the same?

Back to Huntsman. I find myself more and more becoming a supporter. If the primary was today, he would get my vote. You guys that are more intimately involved in Republican politics see any potential difficulty for either Romney or Huntsman in regards to their faith? Particularly with Southern voters that are predominately Baptist?

In a primary yes. In the general no.

That's my feelings. IF (BIG if) he could get the nomination, I think he has the best chance to beat Obama, more so than even Romney. I don't see him getting a sniff in the primary. I guess I would sum it up by saying he's not conservative enough. In the general election, I really think he would have a broad appeal to independents and even very frustrated Blue Dogs.

Probably Newt if he were as electable as the others. He's the smartest guy in the group (including Obama) and has genuinely creative and plausible solutions to our nation's issues.

No way he would get elected though.

Still think Mitch Daniels could have won in a massive landslide if he won the primary.

I've heard a bit from Huntsman over the last week or so. Seems level headed, wants to get things done, not a zealot, willing to compromise and work hard to get the country moving again.

Therefore, he has ZERO chance to be the GOP nominee.

Sad.
