from a speech he gave.

"Nobody thinks that Bush and McCain have a real answer to the challenges we face. So what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me," Obama said. "You know, he's not patriotic enough, he's got a funny name, you know, he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."

i thought dems/libs were beyond race.

every speech he has to slip in some race innuendo or hint. typical liberal.

Maybe he wouldn't feel the need if people like you weren't running around calling him hussein obama in an attempt to color him in a different light....

There is no doubt about it. For someone who wanted this election to be above racial lines he sure does bring it up a lot. By the way, has anyone seen any quotes from McCain or his camp implying Obama should not be president because of his race? Obama is pimping his ethnicity while at the same time claiming that McCain is using his skin color against him.

Even you aren't dumb enough to believe that...now go shine your Rev. Phelps bobble-head doll or whatever it is you do when you aren't posting nonsense here....

I do dislike the pre-event guilt that Obama uses when he says those people will do this to me. It's certainly not a unifying tactic.

you libs get so sensitive about his middle name. you should be saying it proud, that you have such a diverse canidate. such hypocrisy.

:lolabove: TennTradition isnt a liberal.

I suppose I'm a little bit of everything....I'm liberal to many in the south (at least in some respects)...but I'm pretty conservative when compared to my friends up here....

When I finally settle down to a good platform, I'll let you know :)

But I would not describe myself as a liberal...

PS: How's it been going Monterey? I saw where someone blew up an old navy ship in the Pacific last week...you didn't push the button did you? You still need to take me out for some demo some time....

It's kind of funny to see a thread criticizing Obama for playing the race card that is titled in such a way that the thread itself plays the race card.

I think its a bit of a reach to call this playing the race card. Seems like McCain is struggling right now.

McCain is struggling a bit right now as far as perception and message go. Obama ran laps around him through his foreign tour...dominating press coverage, whether it was warranted or not. McCain still hasn't quite got back up on his feet with respect to a consistent message that is actually reaching people...and he's mixing in some tax talk in there that certainly seems off-message. I don't think he is in dire straights with respect to polling numbers or anything (yet), but he does need to straighten up his message and get his PR people to throw him a bone.

. . . and yet the polls don't seem to reflect that. I don't think I've ever seen such an "inspiration gap" between two candidates that wasn't reflected in polling.
