I don't know how accurate that is, but would we seriously hire Tubberville before offering Phil? If we hire Tubbs, I think I'd puke and crawl into a hole somewhere.

I don't want either, at all, but I'd much rather have a Tennessee guy at the helm surrounded by Tennessee guys than Tubberville, another guy fired from the SEC.

Just kick me in the nuts now and get it over with. They hire either one of those clowns I won't spend one dollar with the program. It's a hard pill to swallow knowing nobody wants to coach at Tennessee. It's a sad time to be a Tennessee Vol.

Pelini would be FAR better than either of these guys, but not sure if he'd want the job. Tubbs's best coaching years are behind him, and Jones really isn't qualified. He would excite NOBODY. I'd like to see the UT president dump both Cheek and Hart.

Tubbs is far from a clown. I don't understand WTH some of you guys want in a coach. Seriously........Fulmer? Really?

Yes, Fedora gave us a firm no. He doesn't want to leave UNC after just a year and it will blow back on us in the media if we push it, after our reaction to the Kiffin one-and-done.

I'd give Tubberville, Jones and Pelini a good look. Curious as to where Mora, Petrino and Tressel is or even on the radar. Pelini doesn't really have a bad record at Neb.

They were both fired. Fulmer was much more successful. What's the problem with Fulmer when comparing the two?

What's the problem? We're the ones who fired Fulmer. Why hire him back? Have all the problems vanished over time or something?

I think hiring Fulmer is a cop out by those advocating it. As if we can't hire anybody else who's acceptable.

Your last sentence sums it up best because its true.

At this point I would be okay with hiring Fulmer to a one year contract with a chance for an extension based on performance. He could pull a Snyder on us. Who knows?

Kinda hard to sell yourself and the program to recruits working on a one year deal. Same for assistants for that matter.

Tuberville is a good coach and he wants to be here.

They said the same thing about Charlie Strong. 2 days later we were in a bidding war for his services and did nothing more than get him a phat raise and an extension. At what point do you stop over paying for a coach? Is Charlie Strong worth 4.1 Million per year? No by a long shot in my opinion. The only one that comes out the winner in a bidding war is the coach and the agent.

I agree Strong wasn't worth 4 million. Hart basically didn't do enough spadework before this process started--ferreting out dynamic comers who //would be interested in the Vol job.// He's been chasing his tail. How much does Tubbs, who's 58, have left in the tank? Most of the other guys we will look at now will probably be underqualified, like Jones. Pelini would be our best bet--but he's another guy making good money at an established program and so probably is a nonstarter. We need somebody who WANTS to coach the Vols--and this leads me increasingly to men who have been associated with the Vols--but not Fulmer.
