I am sorry that I have posted comments about how I thought Worley was not getting the job done and how Butch was not playing the right guy. I obviously saw today what Butch and company have been seeing in practices. Worley is the best we got and should have played from the start today. We are who we are at this point. I will not be calling for a change at qb any longer, I trust Butch to make the right call. I have a feeling his decision today was due to pressure by us (fans) to make a change. Well we got what we wanted and gosh it was bad. GO VOLS

Sincerely,

a sad beaten down fan

Positive to take away is that Worley kept his head up and was ready to go when his number was called. Further, he played decently against a really good defense. He'll never be Peyton, but as we've now seen, it could be much worse.

Today, we learned that Worley is the best prospect that we have at q.b. So, it will be him the remainder of the 8 games left of this season, BARRING an injury to Worley.

Thanks for owning this.
I have been baffled why so many on here have been second guessing the coaches....who see this EVERY DAY in practice.....in declaring Worley the best option.
Have patience. These coaches know what they're doing.

I second your emotions. Poor Peterman was.....yeah, well you know.

I try to look for progress from week to week and focus on improvement, nothing more.

Worley launched a strike for a big gain over the middle and a real nice throw to Pig Howard for our TD. I thought he played fairly well except for his awkward INT under pressure. It's a shame he has no wheels to escape pressure.

How can you make that determination when you have only seen two of the four qb's?

I don't care that Worley threw A strike or made two nice throws,
10-23, does not cut it.

Pretty simple actually.

The third and fourth options haven't beat out the first and second options YET.

One can deduce the coaches are going with the better of the four options wich happens to be the first option.

Then I guess that means you know which one is ready to do better. I confess that I'm not present during practice and wouldn't know.

Share it with us. Even if he doesn't get to start next week, we'd all like to know which QB is really capable.

I would not be totally surprised to see one of the freshmen before the year is out. I like both of the other kids... but neither is playing well or showing a tremendous amount of promise.

I think this is especially likely if UT is 3-6 heading into Mizzou.

Butch said after game that JW was throwing it out of bounds and did not put enough air under it.

I don't know or care. We just know the two qb's we have seen is not capable. You can't teach the intangibles that make a good qb. It is obvious the two we have seen do not have it. I'd rather lose with a freshman than watch an upper classman prevent the growth of an under classman. Lumps now or later, you choose.

Excellent thoughts OP. One thing I will say though is that I hope Butch Jones does not make personnel decisions based on fan pressure. Only in a "play a 4 year walk on in the last game of season in scrub time" etc.

If he's caving to the kind of delusional and schizophrenic thinking that fan bases have, then he is not the man to bring us back.

I believe he saw Worley's "deer in the headlights" in all three games (especially UO) and wanted to at least do a little shock therapy on Worley. He needed to see Nate with the lights on too. AS expected, he's not even close it appears. Worley came in prepared and played his best ball this season IMO. No, he was not great, but looked decisive, confident, and faced on sick defense.

With a good showing against USA, he may settle into some improvement as he matures this season. Hopefully, we can steal one of the underdog games. But, just as important, we need him to manage well and make enough plays to beat VU, UM, UK and maybe even Auburn.

We finish like that and show well in lower tier bowl, the attitude around here will be a lot better.

I think it is delusional to believe fans forced this decision. If so this coach is already a failure.
