That this butt kicking is a precursor to the kind of run for UT that the last 42-17 beat down preceded. I'm still angry UT lost. I'm still in my negative feelings. I still hate losing to soft big 10 schools. Tennessee still finished much higher than most people imagined.

It's funny you bring this up. From about 1984 until the mid 2000s we always had top 5 talent. We were always top 5 during this time with Vols on opening day, NFL rosters too. I beg people to check me there. We lost games like this all along that way. No social media back then. Less negative discourse

So Glenn Elarbee stabs Heupel in the back next year and leads us to a 10 year run of dominance?

Something has to change internally, the whole staff needs to reflect. Heupel has got to figure out road games. The position coaches except coach Garner, need to be reevaluated and i believe changes must be made.

Uh huh. They should go to a retreat and meditate. Clear their minds. Develop new energy for their craft. Wouldn't hurt

We also won a few we had no business winning. I can’t remember the exact years but down 30+ on the road at LSU. The Miami game. I’m sure I’m leaving a couple out.

LSU in 2005. ND in 1991. We played Miami twice. They beat us in Knoxville 26-3. We beat them the next year in Miami 10-6

We beat Miami's asses on New Year's Day, 1986, 35-7. That's my favorite boat race of all time

Yeah, they were terrible this year. They made it to the playoffs but won't win the championship. Unacceptable

We lost 42-17 to Nebraska as well on 1/1/1998. The experience toughened the team and propelled them to a national championship one year later.

42-17 seems to be a watershed score for Tennessee wake-up calls & turn-arounds. We'll see this time. What will CJH do in response?
