Yes we needed to line one up in last years class but burning a consecutive scholly again on an LS doesn't make sense.

This just in: "PratvilleVol, who had simultaneously sent this thread topic in a group text to all his UT football buddies, awkwardly apologizes and hopes they don't give him a hard time about it."

Suppose we wanted a certain Long Snapper. We give him a preferred walk on status, but school "A" has scholarships to spare and will burn one on him. Well, in that case, he will likely go to school "A" for a free education, so this forces us to offer a scholarship to him, if we really want him.

Bigger question is, will having Dr. Jerry Punch's son on the team make ESPN love us?

I would offer a scholarship to a long snapper in a heartbeat if I was certain he was a specialist in that area. Having the comfort of your punter getting the ball off like clockwork is huge in the biggest area of the sport. SPECIAL TEAMS. AT THE END OF THE DAY THE GAME COMES DOWN TO FIELD POSITION.
