- How this team consistently takes so many bad shots, and misses so many "easy" shots. It's been like this all season.

- How this team is so inconsistent in rebounding. Sometimes their solid, but they are absolutely pathetic the rest of the time.

- How they all look like Hopson handling the ball, and make so many bad passes

Is it fair to blame it on youth and inexperience, or are they just bad? I've had these questions for a while and would like to see them answered.

Why are we launching all these 3s when we have to studs down low and besides we suck from behind line

A 3 point is a lazy shot. You don't have to work to get a shot; where as, to get a shot down low, you will need to set up a pass and usually take some physical contact.

I'm not a basketball coach, but this team's offensive sets are horrible. I have never seen so much standing in my life. Tatum is the worst 5th year senior I've ever seen. He dribbles etc but never goes to the basket. It's just wasted energy. Golden, McBee, and Tatum settle for 3s WAY to much. Richardson, Golden, and McRae all have the ability to get to the rim and score yet they settle for 22 foot jumpers most the time. It's just a very young and inexperienced team when it comes to playing great basketball on the offensive side.

Guards, with the partial exception of Golden, can't create any plays.

I think Maymon and Stokes can pass better than most of the guards.

Golden likes to dribble and shoot wah hoo shi_ters. Why pass it off to a big when you can go 1 on 2 or throw up some bazaar floater.

Infuriating. Collectively our inside guys shoot about 70% and he keeps throwing up that trash.

Very hard to watch. Needs an asterisk besides his name after games like this one because I can't actually call that point guard play. He is out there but he isn't playing point guard.

the shot selection is actually what ccm wants as dumb as that sounds. ccm wants and tells his guys to let it fly when you are open, he wants no hesitation. i am curious to see if he rethinks that system with this team, with stokes & maymon dominating down low.

the fact is our post guys are actually pretty undersized height wise when you match them up against other sec schools. when they play a team whose post guys match their physicality its hard for our shorter posts to rebound with 7' guys.

the ball handling is something that confuses me. i think its golden playing pg and he isnt one. richardson and mcbee playing sg, 2 guys who really arent the best ball handlers. tatum and mcrae both playing the 3 who arent the best decision makers. maymon and stokes in the post who try to make good passes but when double teamed can be hard. add in that stokes is young and is losing the ball on occasion still and that seems to be some of the problem.

Maymon and Stokes pass much better than any of the guards including Golden imo.

this is just not an intelligent post. to the untrained eye sure there passing seems to be good, but look at the turnovers as well. if you put stokes or maymon at the pg they'd have 10 turnovers a game, golden is a good passer that's the least of his problems. with that said maymon and stokes are both exceptional passers for big men, but they wont have games where they have 9 assists or something.

I have told many people that are UT fans, as much as I liked Bruce Pearl, he did not develop the personnel. For the most part these players were under the coaching of BP. It will take some time for Cuonzo to mold them. Under BP they could not finish games consistently, they missed point blank shots and made silly turnovers.

forewarning this is not a knock on pearl...

pearl recruited guys that fit his system; fast, athletic, exciting, long, offense first type guys.

martin wants guys who are strong, physical, defense first type of guys. its very hard to get a player who has played pearls style his whole life to play martins style in one year.

Many times the bad angles that we use when trying to feed the post makes our passes look bad. Also out front the guards tend to almost run into each other, bringing extra defenders to the ball (bad spacing in offensive sets), which also makes passing difficult.

our guards need hours of practice on how to make a proper entry pass, and the different techniques to properly do so.
