...to be compared to anyone else. I believe the return to the top for Rocky Top MUST include Jones creating his own name by getting results. I don't want it to look like Kelly or Sumlin or anyone else...I want it to look like Jones.

We'll all know it's happening when some sports pundit says of another coach, "Do you think he could have the same kind of success at [insert university here] that Butch Jones has at Tennessee?"

And I'm looking forward to it. GBO.

I don't care if our team plays likea Kelly, Saban, Sumlin, Fulmer team. Just win baby and I could care less if its by 30 or 3. If Curious George was our coach and he wins, than I will wear my wids brim yellow hat in support. Just win baby!!!

@barknoxbrawler agreed, I don't care if we run the triple option, as long as we are winning games getting back above .500 and heading to bowl games, I'm down with whatever. GBO

I "sorta" agree. Above .500 and bowl games is only a start. I want more! I want "above .500 and only a bowl game" to be a bad year again.

Coach Jones is doing all the right things reinvolving the lettermen is huge. This thing got this way over several years with a guy who seemed to care more about himself than the program. Now we have a guy in place who says this is his DREAM job so why can't folks cut him some slack we will know more when the recruiting class is done but agagain he kind of started behind the eight ball so now the new coaches are trying to build relationships.Next years class could be huge with lots of legacys out there.I believe in my heart we have alot more talent on this team than showed last year DD lost this team maybe as far back as the KY game we lost.Either way we have our new guy who wants to be here and please cut the guy some slack. Some of our fellow keyboard junkies act like they have more football knowledge than anyone out there. Kind of sad we can't all get behind our program and try to build instead of constantly tearing it down.Go Vols.

I dont care who we play like who we copy, as long as we win, and when we lose be able to compete, just improve from week to week and year to year thats not asking to much.

THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T ROOT FOR ALABAMA TONIGHT!

"I waited because I wanted to go visit the campuses again, and give Tennessee a chance because they lost their coach at the end of the year,” Vonn Bell said. “I want to give everybody an equal and fair shot.”

How does Bell feel about the Volunteers? “They’re in a slump right now but I think Butch Davis … I mean, Butch Jones, is the guy that will bring them out of that slump.”

Bell had a lot of nice things to say about Urban Meyer and his national championship at Florida. But he may have saved his highest praise for Nick Saban.

“Alabama … it just speaks for itself,” Bell said. They are in the national championship again. Coach Nick Saban, he’s a DB coach, and he’s going to be coaching me. So Coach Saban has got guys into the NFL, so his name speaks for himself.”

The fact is that he will compared to a number of coaches in the NCAA - FBS. And he should be compared to other coaches in order to gauge his level of success.

I think there are people that have a sole purpose of tearing UT down. I think there are a lot of people, myself included, that are gonna have to wait a year because we don't wanna invest time, money, and energy because of how this hire went. Can't ask us to get 110% behind Jones when his hiring was just like the last two.

While I understand that recent history with Dooley may have blunted expectations, lets be serious - .500 is nowhere near success. I do expect much better than that from Jones - I mean coming in, he is a 2:1 winner. I know this is the SEC and he is starting from scratch but I have to say even so, my expectation is 8-4 even next year. Considering he is at a high money program and with the talent he is bringing in, it should be a realistic baseline. Lets not get to where we are accepting mediocrity only because we have despaired of greatness.
