This fanbase is vile, smothering and the worst part extremely ignorant about football.CBJ won't have it as bad as the next QB, because he will be the player to blame for all failures. When the defense crumbles late in games, he will be to blame. When balls get dropped, he'll be accused of not reading the defense or hitting his checkdowns even if he throws to the FB alot. He will be accused of not having "Pocket Presents" and more importantly will never ever live up to the legend of Peyton the Almighty. When the losses come, CBJ won't have the benefit of a uplifting, encouraging fanbase to look forward too. Just a sad, bickering and clueless group of middle aged men who's own worth rises and falls with the W/L record. Godspeed CBJ and new QB.

The saddest part of this hire for me is that ARKANSAS has managed to hire considerably bigger names for their last two coaches than UT. Why? Arkansas gets Petrino / Tennessee gets Dooley...Arkansas gets Bielema / Tennessee gets Jones. Either Tennessee, for some reason, is less attractive to potential coaches than Arkansas, who faces LSU and Alabama...OR, the hiring efforts of UT have been deficient. For clarity, I'm not suggesting Bielema is a home run hire, but he is undeniably more highly regarded than Jones. From my perspective, it appears as though Arkansas' AD has simply been more determined. Why?

Arkansas AD Long had known Bielema since 2005, and Bielema had written him a letter earlier this year to congratulate Long on how he handled the Petrino matter. They had a history.

Here's my deal on Bielema. I asked a co worker who is a big Badger fan about a week ago about Bielema. I mentioned that I thought UT should go after him because his teams seem to play sound football and win. He laughed in my face and told me he would be a nightmare. He said Alvarez basically ran everything behind the scenes and Bielema was more of a puppet running the ship on cruise control. Ironically Bielema jumps to Arky and it comes out that he was upset about not having enough control of the program and paying assistant coaches. Even weirder is Alvarez is coaching the Badgers in the Rose Bowl. Makes me believe all that he said was true about Bielema. An AD doesn't just step in and coach a bowl game after 7 years away from coaching if he wasn't heavily running things behind the scenes.

Stupid indirect defense of Bray.

It isn't that he had chances to win games at the end and choked once or twice. It isn't that he just choked a majority of the time. He choked EVERY time he had a chance to win one at the end against a quality opponent. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

So yes, if Jones' QB chokes at the end of every close game... he will get criticized. That goes with the opportunity for glory at a big time program.

I will give you a heads up though... Jones isn't afraid to replace a QB. He did it this year and apparently has done it before. If he has a guy who repeatedly chokes.... I doubt he continues to be the starter.

If "history" is the key to hiring bigger names, then perhaps it is a good idea to begin introducing Mr. Hart to coaches we might want to have in the future.

You don't come coach or play QB at UT if you're worried or scared about what some fans or media might think about you when you screw up. I think coach and whoever winds up starting at QB will be fine in that department.

I am, on record, denying that Bielema is substantially better than Jones. That was not hard

And you are..............

Wrong.....:hi:

I never said Bielema is better or vice versa. He is, undeniably, a higher profile coach than Jones. The question is not regarding who will be better. The question, again, is why is Arkansas more adept than UT at landing the higher profile names they seemingly desire???

Now that we've got a Big East Coach, can we please play Big East teams, we need to win before we join the SEC

He will be accused of not having "Pocket Presents" .

Trying to think of an example of a Pocket Present.

Would that be like a new Shiny Zippo? Maybe a Case Knife?

Strugglin'

What the hell are "pocket presents"?:eek:lol::eek:lol:

Heard on TSR that CBJ has a 4 or 5 start QB on the hook from Florida. Seems this recruit was down to Cincinnati or FSU. After CBJ news broke about him coming to UT he supposedly called the AD and said he wanted to come play for CBJ here.

I just can't remember the kids name. Did anybody else hear that?

Pretty much a Moot point that Tyler is going pro.

Asiantii Woulard

I'm not sure about the AD thing, but he definitely tweeted about Jones to UT.

Will Butch be on the field playing quarterback the entire time he is the head coach?

Bray may make some practice squad, but I don't see much hope for the kid in the NFL....He** he can't beat any good team much less an SEC team....But I do hope he doesn't stay

Problem I see... I would just about bet, 60-75% of the people who post on these topics, and make these comments about how good of a job UT is, is younger than...35-40... meaning, they graduated HS around 90-95.. and the reason this matters is since they were old enough to remember we've had 4 coaches... 4. 60-75% of the people here were too young to remember the transition from Majors to HOFame Fulmer who spent 16-17 years here. And the last 2 they are probably more intimate with because of internet, and how extravagant CFB has become. And the only reason you say TN is a SEXY job is cause u heard it on the radio. IMO.. TN was a top 3-5 job in the late 90's.. but the game has just passed us by, for many, many reason. Hamilton, Fulmer, brick building... Right now though.... I might put TN in the top 20, barely. And i know some of u gonna say u not a fan... blah blah.. Half my wardrobe is orange. when we are getting beat, I feel like my dog died, and get upset to my stomach. I bleed orange. You're not always gonna get a grandslam hire, and u surely not gonna get one with the state our program is in. Again IMO it's the chicken and the egg conversation. which comes first, a great coach, and then 10-2,11-1 record, or a decent overachieving coach, that proves 10-2 11-1 is still possible at TN? I'm not sure about CBJ, I do feel a lil' short changed, but then again I really never believed we'd get anything more. but one thing i do know is where i'll be last sat in Aug next year.
