A lot of people think Wake Forest is in the triangle but it’s not. More like the same distance between Vandy and us.

Correct. There’s just a general sense of all the North Carolina schools disliking each other…and with Wake Forest (and to a degree NC State) being the littler brother(s) in all of it. (A lot of it probably stems back, too, to that Wake Forest used to actually be located in the city of Wake Forest, NC, which is just northeast of Raleigh.)

The more official / historic major rivalries re: Wake Forest are more UNC-Wake Forest and NC State-Wake Forest (the second longest continuous rivalry in FBS and the only fans I know to actively hate Wake Forest’s program), but when the ACC expanded in 2004, they made Wake Forest and Duke (who had already played each other all but 2 years since 1921) permanent cross-divisional opponents, which from what I understand seemed to add a bit more juice to this yearly game.

So Wake Forest fumbled the kickoff return after Duke’s TD, and Duke scored again to make it 17 all.

Which is what the score currently stands at with 6:34 left in the game.

At 17-all Wake Forest has to punt back to Duke.

With 1:22 left in the game, Duke starts at its own 24 before getting to the Wake Forest 45 with less than 20 seconds left in the game before getting to Wake Forest’s 39 with enough time for one last play

On the final play, Duke completes a 39 yard touchdown pass with no time left on the clock!!
