We have a ton of freshmen playing and in the 2 deep now.... and we don't lose a ton to graduation.... and we have a couple of solid recruiting classes coming of age.

With that said, who of the committed recruits from this year (can also include probable future commits) will likely see meaningful playing time next year?

I'm not very familiar with this year's recruits, but very familiar with the past couple of years, and I just wasn't sure where we may see some of our future freshmen.

WR's- Young now, but not deep after this year
QB- obviously Simms and Bray are top 2
OL- Young now, will be deeper next year
RB- Not overly deep or talented, but adequate
TE- Not too sure about how the roster looks here

DL- obviously thin, but young'uns are gonna be good
LB- This is a position of need, but I know we have some highly touted guys on the roster that haven't seen the field
CB- Attrition has hurt us here, but we are young and have potential
Safety- JJ is obviously not going anywhere, but I see potential for a freshman SS

Can anyone help fill me in on where this current class may see the field in 2011?

GBO!

Obviously the DT's we bring in will see some snaps next year, I also think Vincent Dallas (Vol Lock) could see some time in the Slot. I'm undecided on Young, idk if the staff will let him take a shot at returns once he steps foot on campus or if they will want to redshirt him & get some more weight on him. I think some of the DB's we bring in could see some snaps also. I see Tom Smith possibly being redshirted. At TE Andrew Power will see the field & I think Clear ( IF he commits ) will get a shot there.

The LBs & Safteys we bring in will see time on ST's.

Thanks. Obviously we won't have as many freshmen playing next year as compared to this year, but I was just looking for some insight on the talent probably coming in.

Not a bad OP at all.

The only thing that is incorrect is DL. It is not to say that J Smith etc will not be very good, but it is incorrect in that we do not have ANY great DT's or potentially great DTs beyond M Hughes. There is not another position on this team that is worse off for UT than DTs.

Add the OL we are bringing in and you get to take away D Thomas and Gooch (unless they improve) and you have a very strong OL.

At MLB we will miss the intelligence of Nick Reveiz, but we will have someone with more physical ability almost certainly. Losing the kid from Atlanta to Florida in last years class really hurt, and some of us were along for the ride that Jeff Luc might follow his uncle to East TN. We need the LBs being recruited in this class to step up quickly.

Wilcox is recruiting great guys size wise for his system who can play DE or LB depending on whether he is in a 3-4 or a 4-3. It is exciting.

We needed a KR and even though this game looked better than previous ones, we still need a guy. The fact that the team looked to Evander Wells from the track team shows you how desperate we had gotten, and we are going to bring in Devrin Young and another "scat back" type guy who is small and fast.

Next year it will be clear that Janzen Jackson will be playing for 1st round NFL money, and Juwuan James and Justin Hunter will be only 1 year behind him in their own 1st round NFL story.

Da'Rick Rogers has the potential to also blossom. I like Gerald Jones and D Moore a good bit, but next year I expect Justin Hunter as a sophomore and Da'Rick Rogers as a sophomore to play at a level at WR we have not seen since Kelley Washington took over games. Peerless Price, Marcus Nash, Donte Stallworth, Robert Meachem...yeah like that. Two guys who can take it to the house at any time which makes stopping both a very difficult task.

We need a great TE. Stocker will be drafted even though he has not displayed the ability to catch balls thrown behind him that Witten showed in college and still shows in the NFL. Cameron Clear could be big for us.

Dooley likes two TE sets and Rivera will be better next year than this one, but with our skill at WR I do not think we will see too much of that in 2011.

Thanks, MHF.

I'm glad to hear it is sounding like a quality depth class at positions of need. This is crucial IMO.

What is going on with the group of LBs we recruited two years ago? King from Memphis, The kid from VA (name escapes me but he was supposed to be good), and a couple of decent kids from the Stone Mtn GA area..... I think thats about it, but all of these kids had the physical tools.... any idea?

King is still hurt from Fall practice, Hubbs said that he doesnt look to be moving as good as he was last year.

Jerod Askew ( LB from VA. ) just cant comprehend the playbook.
