With all the fair weather fans. A team who loses its captain and senior leadership as well as coach will struggle. Period.

Losing to ky use to be something that was expected. Excitement and expectations around Tennessee basketball have never been higher. Sorry but its true.

Name the last squad that you thought had enough talent to compete against the top of college basketball?

This year has been far from normal. It is however down right pathetic how our fan base thinks the sky is falling.

Lots of things need to shape up for this team quickly. Most importantly we need a fan base who understands what loyalty is.

Uh yea we are all excited about the prospect of BP being suspended next year, possibly not being retained after the season, his suspension this year- his future is at an all-time high.

If you think this is about one game or a couple of games you have lost your mind.

I really hope you don't mean loyalty to BP. If you think he gives a rat's ass about you or me you have your head up your a-hole.

I've been around tn basketball long enough to know Bruce is not UT.

I'm doing my best to withhold thoughts on what might be until it is.

Now - would someone explain to our team that "slow down the pace of the game" doesn't mean "don't play with intensity"

I don't we would be as upset if our team played with passion.

I hear you. I have been saying the same thing from the beginning of the year up until last night, be patient, be patient; however there is absolutely no reason to be out hustled. No excuse for it. We were out hustled in every aspect of the game from rebounding, boxing out, loose balls, etc., etc. I’ve said it before I don’t like losing but you can loose and leave it all on the court. All coaches will tell you, that there is no excuse to be out hustled or out worked. At least that was told to me, and I passed it on to the kids I coach. This team turns it off more than turns on and that is what is frustrating about this group zero consistency. I’ll still be at the games yelling and cheering but they are making it hard. FYI I sat through the Wade Houston years I’m riding the wagon until wheels fall off and the wagon is being dragged. GO VOLS!!

This stretch of basketball is hardly a thing fair weather fans would stick through.

They had a bad game last night. They were out hustled for rebounds and loose balls. We don't have outside shooters that will keep the opponents away from the basket. Harrelson out hustled everyone we had in there. We can't catch a rebound with 2 hands and foul shooting is horrendous.

Other than that I hope we play better the rest of the season. In the end it was an L instead of a W no matter how good or bad we played or whether it was a 1 point or 30 point lose. What is expected when a team goes to Lexington? I would expect to win, but I'm a homer.

Our slowed down pace ( Almost Flex Hybrid) makes it seem like our players have no intensity. We had our most success when we went away from it, yet we keep coming back.

This team cannot run, seem almost lazy on the court...with 2 mins left they use up 15-20 sec of the shot clock messing around before jacking a 3....I cannot see the heart, passion, fight in any of these guys. It is what it is, need some new blood. Pearl cannot get these guys to play at a high level, not sure why.

man this so called big orange nation should feel ashamed we shouldnt abandon the team now cause there at a rough point we need to band together and help pick the wagon back up if its being dragged along its easy to cheer when there on top its the real fans who support them when there down GO Vols.

Agree. This in fighting is absurd. Lets support this team through the rough times.

The team is getting zero help from the staff which seems to try their very hardest to put this team at a disadvantage. The team certainly has problems with effort and consistency, but that's not all on them. The coaches need to start doing their job.

Most every one on here is loyal to the program, just not to a non-performing coaching staff that has done nothing this year but create chaos for the program.

There is ALOT of issues with this team with the Pearl issues getting the most attention. I have mixed opinions on wether BP should be our coach next season or not but the ONE thing that really upsets me about this team is it's "on court" attitude. Lack of hustle and half the time they throw up shots you would expect from a 5th grade team. There is no passion or chemistry with this years unit.

"this year"

Thanks. This is my point. Its one bad year out of what has been several very good ones.

Here's a dose of patience spiked with the reality that there are ups and downs. Ride them out. It will go down smooth.

Again - to think of firing a coach because one team doesn't give effort while all others have is short sighted and misplaced. And is not good for long term success of program.

NCAA violations could be a reason to fire. BUT we have NO clue what they are or what punishment and appeal is.

I hate losing but I put the blame on no on court leader. Period.

Motivation is as much a part of coaching as teaching the technical aspects of the game. How to motivate is the question. Do you motivate by giving your 'best' players pine time instead of playing time? If so, then people complain because you are playing the McBees and Pearls on your team. There is one major ingredient many are leaving out of their arguments, on both sides, and that is SELF MOTIVATION. If a player can not be self motivated to play at his highest level, then no amount of coaching tactics will work on them. We do have several unmotivated players on this team, but what to do with them is the problem. I am not happy about what Coach Pearl did. I do not excuse him one bit, but I do not think he has suddenly just 'dropped ignorant' with regards to how to coach. I believe he wants the team to play at the highest level possible, but for whatever reason they are not right now. This is all just my opinion, but it is based on 20 years of coaching experience. It isn't always easy or fun.

I am a very loyal fan, and don't have anything nice to say about this season lately, so I have refrained from posting. I still support the team, and want them to win every game, however. The sky is falling though bro. Massive sanctions will decimate this team next year IMO.

One bad year? Try one of the worst in recent memory. when was the last time a BCS program had the HC suspended for half of league play and most of the coaches suspended from off-campus recruiting for most of the year?

I'd call that a pretty "bad year." But hey it's just one mistake and he learned from it...

And still made the NCAA tournament.

Not saying it's a sure thing by any means, but any year you make the tourney is not one of the worst years in recent memory. Maybe at UNC, Duke or UK, but not here.

That's merely talking about the on court results. I realize there are far more off-the-court ramifications that will outlast the end of the season, and that's likely what you were referring to.
