to Turner. I am happy to get Slick but to say he is a replacement for Turner is crazy. Turner is the #1 WR in the nation while SS is #20. So yes we need to mourn the loss of Turner because we cannot replace him. But I am glad to get SS, it does help soften the blow.

Yeah but Slick could turn into a better receiver than Turner down the stretch. You never know.

look at the stats. shelley had a more productive carrer than turner. all turner did was have a good week of practice at the aa game. shelley performed in the aa game like a good reciver, what did turner do? nothing. i personally think that turner could turn out to be a bust, but imo i rather have shelley.

Scout.com had Turner as the best WR hands down. The Jackson kid was a close second. SS was really not talked about as one of the better WR during the week of the AA game.

Having said that, I thought he looked good in the game. I thought he was the second best WR I saw. But scout.com reported about the practices and Turner was the man all week long.

Don't count this years receiver class out. There are some in this forum that say that Austin Rogers is better than the three stars that Rivals gave him. He has 4.4 speed and a hell of a vertical leap. Another point: I would rather sign Slick than make our cornerbacks guard him in the regular season and the SEC championship game.

LMAO......Hey Westie, how bout them Dawgs? Little inside joke. Anyone that posts on volchat knows what I'm saying.

what are you talking about wizard ? You sound like some of these clown dawg fans we have here in Atlanta.

This year UT will have it's best WR corps ever. We better enjoy that while we can.

I would say other than the last few years the Vols have always had premier receivers. If Washington and Stallworth stay and Montrell Jones laid off the bong we would have only had one rebuilding year.

Hey gang, don't sell my man Slick short.

I'll bet he turns out to be way better than expected, and that is said with a lot expected.

you cant go just by scout.com rankings to see who the best reciver in the group is. if my memory serves me correctly (which it does) roy williams was the 19th best reciver according to scout.com . he had more dominate numbers in highschool (just like slick) but everyone else thought that all these other recivers were just better than him. look what happen there.

Come on westside, aren't you the same westside that posts on volchat? If so, you know what I'm talking about! Don't bring you tired act over here, Dawg!

Wizard- WTH are you talking about ?

I think Williams was ranked much higher the #19. But as far as Slick goes the real question will be his speed. I think all the other tools are there but you cannot teach speed.

Montrell never did much to impress me at UT or Louisville. I agree that Donte and KW was a great duo. But we have Swain, Smith, Meech now and they are all highly rated guys with tons of potential. Not to mention Hannon who should be special. At least this is the deepest WR corp in nothing else.

All these rankings are subjective. Keep in mind that Slick played 6A ball in Arkansas and Turner played for Goodpasture. Goodpasture had just about zero talent outside of Turner.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, but time will tell in the end.

I'm thinking some of you are way off.....how can you judge a kid by what some numbers a website put on him? Jerry Rice didn't have one D-1 offer...need I say more. People put way too much into these numbers.....these are human beings, people. They have the chance to shine or sink, depending on what circumstancees they put themselves in, on and off the field. Not only that but Turner and Shelly are two different types of recieve4rs. Turner is more of a possession reciever.....I wish him well but I don't see him averaging more than 12 yds a reception. Shelly has the hops to be a basketball player....phenominal hands....I don't know if you've seen his videos but he's made some unbelievable catches, over other db's. He could run 45 yds down field and rise above a db with one hand. He's a special player and will be a solid contributer to the team the next 4 years. Would I like to have Turner? Sure, why not.....but I'd rather have Shelly because he has one thing PT doesn't that make his chances of being a better player here insumountable....THE HEART AND DESIRE TO BE A VOLUNTEER. This is the simple reason he will be a better reciever for the Vols than Turner would be. Not a number, not stars, and not websites raving because he had one good week. Welcome aboard Slick..... :rocks:

Mike Williams the former USC receiver was a 3-star when he came out of HS. In April he's going to be a very rich man.

No comaprison IMO. Slick runs better routes and is not an ego on 2 legs FWIW. Neither are blessed with Willie Gault speed, but both have long arms and good hands.

All I know is that Fulmer and company know how to make a good WR even better. If Slick is coming to play ball for us, then you know that he has a lot of potential.

It matters not. Slick bleeds ORANGE. Turner bleeds Crimson. That's all that matters to me. :good:

hey. Do not forget about another young man by the name of Josh Briscoe.

I think he is the son of the wrestler Jack Briscoe the former NWA champion. OK I made that part up. But I think Briscoe could be alot better than what he is rated as well.

hey westie, i am glad we got slick. he looked real good in the army aa game. if you'll remember, it's the second time ol' phil has doubled down and commited a good receiver after losing an instate stud. remember adarius bowman? yeah, me neither because cpf replaced him with some bums named meachem, swain and smith. same with turner. look for good things from shelley and briscoe.

Westside, just answer my question please. Are you or are you not the same westsidevol that posts over on Volchat at InsideTennessee.com? I won't say anything else. I just want an answer. You refused to answer that question in my previous post. Thats what I am talking about. I want to know if you are the same guy that posts on Volchat. I don't think that is a very complicated question. :dunno:

He's one and the same. All the folks over there swear he's a Jawja Dawg fan in disguise. I'm surpirsed he didn't pipe in on the CH thread to tell us how terrible Ced is.

Bottom line: Turner didn't want to be here, so he's not a better fit than Slick is.
