When I lived in Alabama a few years ago, the most tolerable fans were the Auburn fans and I would always pull for them against Bama.

I was in the USAF & stationed at Gunter AFS in Mongomery in 1981-82. The building I worked in had about 100 or so people working there, mostly civilians. About half were Auburn fans & half Alabama fans. This one lady I was friends with left a roll of toilet paper with a cutout from a Tide box on my desk when I had gone to lunch & she had taken the afternoon off. Well, it just so happened that Tennessee won the next day over Bama & I was ready to get her back when she showed up. She was so upset over the loss she didn't come back to work for 2 days. She knew I was ready to give it back to her upon her return, not to mention the harassing she would get from the Auburn fans. All in good fun but it was poetic.

My daughter and son-in-law graduated from AU. Also, one of my best friends from living and working in Hoover, AL is an AU fan and hates AL. I pull for them when not playing TN.

I always pull for Auburn in the Iron Bowl. Auburn and UT have had a pretty friendly rivalry and definitely has to do with our loathing of Alabama.

I've certainly cheered for Auburn a lot over the years (in part because "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" and in part vicariously for a good friend and Auburn alum who died far too young). I miss the annual Tennessee-Auburn game. It was always fun and (as SEC games go) friendly.

I was down in Tuscaloosa for the 5 OT thriller Vols Victory. The night before my buddy who was friends with an Alabama student took us to a party to hang out with him. I was deep in enemy territory and had my Tennessee hat on. A guy dressed in head to toe Alabama gear pulled me to the side and said, "Hey man, I am just here for the booze and women. I am really and Auburn fan and I hope you guys win tommorrow night!

I miss the UT AU rivalry. The only Alabama I grew up knowing was the very mediocre Alabama of the late 90s/early 00s, so Auburn seemed like our biggest West rival to me growing up. Still hate that we didn’t get revenge in the SECCG when y’all had Cadillac.
