As much as i love the fact that the gators are now under the thumb of the 'Ol Ball Coach, and that i rooted for that to happen...as soon as i turned on ESPN after getting back from the game, i IMMEDIATELY realized i made a mistake.

He's back folks. And i don't think he'll be going anywhere anytime soon. Even though he didn't beat UGA this year, and he could've mind you, he did beat the two teams that USC has never beaten in the same year..UT and UF....what a first year.

Now that's coaching. :banghead:

Of course it helps that both UT and UF suck this year!

No ALLVOL it is because he is the greatest coach that has ever walked the sideline. The world is coming to an end and we should just bannish football from UT because now that SOS is back we have no chance. I mean don't you remember? We never won ANYTHING BIG when he coached at UF.

While i understand your frustration, that's not exactly true is it? i do remember winning back to back SEC titles and a NC in there somwhere while he was still at UF...

Problem for us is he had 6 SEC titles. ANd he beat us regularly until 98.

and now this. It's Duke all over again.

it was mixed emotions all weekend. I didn't want UGA to win and go to the title game. I was hoping Spurrier would be shut down, of course only delaying the inevitable. I didn't want Urban Myth to come in his first year and go to the title game either.

See what we have to look forward to? The problem is that the other threats in the conference all seem to have our number. Each time the teams in the conference have a problem, they look elsewhere and bring in new blood to 'one-up' everyone else. I know Cut is great but bringing back an old system could seriously backfire. We know Spurrier already has that number.

I'm heading off to Sams to stock up on Pepto and Maalox for the next few years.....

However, 4 of the 6 SEC titles came with Danny Wuerffel running his offense. The 2 were made for each other. He'll have a hard time finding another Danny W. He may make a run at an SEC title within the next 3 seasons... however, I suspect he won't do much better than Lou Holtz did at SC.

And remember Lou Holtz won back-to-back new year's bowl games over Ohio State while at South Carolina.... so its not like they sucked too bad before Spurrier got there.

Yeah, but Holtz NEVER beat us or Florida...much less in the same year, and with as little expectations for that team....there's NO ONE on that team that you could have pointed at duirng fall practice and said, yep, that guy is a difference maker...

He's doing it again...

Spurrier is benefiting greatly from the emergence of Blake Mitchell and Sidney Rice. I don't think even Spurrier expected them to pick up the offense this fast. The problem was that they were stuck in that pseudo Single Wing crap that Holtz was running.

ugh... single wing sucks so bad! It's easy to key on whoever is getting the ball or if it's a pass. Run a double wing and give the opposing team 2 backs to worry about. It's perfect if you have good running backs... two of them to be exact.

The SEC East is shaping up to be one of the toughest divisions in D1 in a long time. Going undefeated in the SEC is going to be almost impossible over the years to come. That will not sit us very well with the BCS but who cares. I am excited about the future of the SEC and hope that we get it going. I would like to see us play more PAC 10 and ACC teams as well.
